Visit to the Museum

in museum •  last year

This is my second time visit to this Museum in Oman. It is called the Oman Across Ages Museum. This museum talks about life of this continent from million years ago. It showcases how this region has developed over millions of years. From Stone age to Ice age and being submerged completely in the ocean and from there again rising up and becoming a Desert land. This is a natural process of our planet and the entire universe. Topography keeps changing and we evolution keeps happening. So, when sometimes when we talk about global warming, I feel is it not a part of the nature, these changes and evolutions in the landscapes. What has been completely an Icy region is now a Desert and vice-versa.

Coming back to the Museum, it is one of a kind museum, built with very high level of technology use. The Museum sweeps us through time with the use of video exhibits, interactives, 2D and 3D screens, map projection technology, antique exhibits and display panels.

Let me give you a glimpse from this museum with some of the pictures that I clicked in this visit to the museum.

The Dagger is a symbol of power in Oman's culture and is presented as gifts to visitors in the Country, especially the Diplomats. Just like how in India we have the culture of gifting a Shawl.

That's a Door, these types of doors were famous in the olden days. Such fine art work on the wooden panels.

Camel is not a national animal of the country, but it has lots of importance as in the past they were a important method of transportation for people and goods.
