Today I am going to tell you about one of the best Christmas films I have ever seen, except for some excellent cartoon productions.
Mainly because the main actor, our well-known Terminator started doing this series of films when the jadedness of action movies arrived, the superhero destroying everything, invincible.
The human aspect of this film is so great and so well made out of a very, very simple fact that not even the Terminator can compete with the charm of Arnold Schwarzenegger who plays a father unable to get the doll his son wants as a Christmas present.
Hoy les voy a comentar sobre una de las mejores películas sobre la Navidad que me ha tocado ver, exceptuando algunas excelentes producciones de dibujos animados.
Sobre todo porque el actor principal, nuestro conocido Terminator comenzó a hacer esta serie de películas cuando llegó el hastío de las películas de acción, el super héroe que destruía todo, invencible.
El aspecto humano de esta película es tan grande y está tan bien logrado a partir de un hecho muy pero muy simple que ni siquiera Terminator puede competir con el encanto de Arnold Schwarzenegger que interpreta a un padre incapaz de conseguir el muñeco que su hijo desea como regalo navideño.

Jingle All the Way in Spain it is known as Un Padre en Apuros. In Spanish America, on the other hand, it has been known as Un regalo Prometido o Resuena Todo el Camino (a decidedly strange name).
But anyway, let's leave these trifles aside and move on to the review of the film with which I am participating in the Context organised by this Community and whose rules of participation can be found in this post.

Jingle All the Way En España se la conoce con el nombre de Un Padre en Apuros. En Hispanoamérica, en cambio, se la ha conocido como Un regalo Prometido o Resuena Todo el Camino (un nombre decididamente extraño).
Pero en fin, dejemos estas nimiedades de lado y pasemos a la reseña de la película con la cuál participo en el Context organizado por esta Comunidad y cuyas reglas de participación las pueden encontrar en este post.
The main character Howard Langston (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger) is a workaholic man who never has time to spend with his family, even on special occasions such as his children's school parties.
On one occasion he remembers his son's karate class at the last minute, gets caught in rush hour traffic and is consequently late.
To make matters worse, in his haste to arrive on time, he commits several traffic offences while trying to outrun other vehicles and is fined by the police officer (played by Robert Conrad).
When he arrives home he tries to apologise to his son, arguing that he was so absorbed by work that he remembered the appointment at the last minute and that the traffic was so heavy that he was unable to arrive on time despite having tried, to the point where he was fined for speeding and dangerous driving manoeuvres.
To correct the mistake, he tells his son to order whatever he wants for Christmas. To apologise, he will give it to him.
His son asks for a very simple gift: a Turbo-Man doll, a superhero in fashion at the time.
Howard thinks he's taken a cheap shot at his son, as the gift is so simple and doesn't even cost that much.
What he doesn't realise is the difficulties he'll have in getting it.
Near Christmas his wife (played by Rita Wilson), knowing her husband's forgetfulness about his family obligations, asks him if he has bought the doll for Jamie - his son - who had ordered it weeks ago.
As usual Howard had forgotten with the excuse that he still had time to buy it. He lies, says he has and begins to look for it with some trepidation because he realises that the toy, which is in great demand among children, has disappeared from practically all the shop windows.
Christmas Eve arrives without him having been able to get the toy he had been longing for.
But even so, he continues to lie to his family, saying that he has bought it and has it in his office. He assures them that they will have it for the winter parade. At that parade Turbo-Men will make an appearance.
On his wanderings through the shops he arrives at a toy store not far from his home where a long line of customers are waiting to be served for last minute Christmas shopping.
In that queue he meets Myron Larabee (played by Sinbad), a somewhat eccentric postman who, like him, is looking for a Turbo-Men for his son.
However, when the shop opens and a crowd of parents, like him in distress, rush in to do their last Christmas shopping, he discovers that all the dolls are sold out.
In desperation Howard and Myron ask the clerk who had sold the last Turbo-Men and he points them to a lady. When she sees them approaching, she thinks they are trying to rob her and escapes in her car.
On the way out, Howard runs into his neighbour Ted (Phil Hartman), a divorced father who is coveted by all the single mothers in his neighbourhood, whom Howard hates, as he is always meddling in the affairs of his house.
From then on, a real fight begins between both parents to try to monopolise the toy.
After a thousand misadventures, Howard gets the toy for his son, who, seeing all the trouble his father has had to go through to get it for him, returns it to him.
Shocked, the father asks his son why he is giving it back to him if it was the toy he wanted so much, to which Jamie replies that he doesn't need any doll because he has the real Turbo-Men at home.
El personaje principal Howard Langston (interpretado por Arnold Schwarzenegger) es un hombre adicto al trabajo que nunca tiene tiempo para estar con su familia, ni siquiera en ocasiones especiales como las fiestas escolares de sus hijos por ejemplo.
En una ocasión recuerda a último momento la clase de karate en la que participa su hijo, queda atrapado en el tráfico de la hora de punta y llega, de consecuencia, tarde.
Para colmo de males en su rpisa por llegar a tiempo incurre en varias infracciones de tránsito al tratar de superar a los restantes vehículos y es multado por el oficial de policía (interpretado por Robert Conrad).
Cuando llega a su casa trata de disculparse con su hijo argumentando que el trabajo lo tenía tan absorbido que recordó la cita a último momento y que el tráfico era tan intenso que no pudo llegar a tiempo a pesar de haberlo intentado, a punto tal de haber sido multado por exceso de velocidad y maniobras peligrosas en la conducción.
Para corregir el error le dice al hijo que pida lo que quiera para Navidad. Para disculparse, él se lo regalará.
Su hijo le pide un regalo muy simple: un muñeco de Turbo-Man, un superhéroe de moda en ese momento.
Howard piensa que la ha sacado demasiado barata con su hijo, tanto el regalo es muy simple y ni siquiera cuesta tanto.
Lo que no se imagina son las dificultades que encontrará para conseguirlo.
Cerca de Navidad su esposa (interpretada por Rita Wilson), conociendo el carácter olvidadizo de su marido hacia las obligaciones con su familia, le pregunta si ya ha comprado el muñeco de Jamie -su hijo., que se lo había encargado hacía semanas.
Como es habitual en él Howard se había olvidado con la excusa de que aún tenía titempo para comprarlo. Miente, dice que sí y comienza a buscarlo con cierta inquietud porque se va dando cuenta que el juguete, de gran demanda infantil, ha desaparecido prácticamente de todos los escaparates de los negocios.
Ante la enésima promesa incumplida para con su hijo llega la Nochebuena sin haber podido conseguir el ansiado juguete.
Pero aún asì continúa mintiendo a su familia diciendo que lo ha comprado y lo tiene en su oficina. Aseguréndoles que para el desfile de invierno lo van a tener. En ese desfile va a hacer su aparición Turbo-Men.
En su deambular por los negocios llega a una juguetería no lejos de su casa donde una gran fila de clientes espera ser atendido para hacer las compras de Navidad de último momento.
En esa fila encuentra a Myron Larabee (interpretado por Sinbad) , un cartero algo excéntrico que. como él, está buscando un Turbo-Men para su hijo.
Sin embargo cuando la tienda abre y una multitud de padres, como él en apuros, entra precipitadamente para hacer las últimas compras de Navidad, descubre que todos los muñecos están agotados.
En la desesperació Howard y Myron le preguntan al empleado a quien le había vendido el último Turbo-Men y éste les señala una señora. La cuál al verlos acercarse piensa que la quieren robar y escapa en su auto.
Al salir, Howard se encuentra con su vecino Ted (Phil Hartman), un padre divorciado que es codiciado por todas las madres solteras de su vecindario, a quien Howard detesta, ya que siempre está metiéndose en los asuntos de su casa.
De ahí en más comienza una verdadera lucha entre ambos padres por tratar de acaparse el juguete.
Luego de mil desventuras Howard consigue el juguete para su hijo quien al ver todas las empresas que ha debido sortear su padre para regalárselo se lo devuelve.
Conmovido el padre le pregunta al hijo por qué se lo devuelve si era el juguete que tanto ambicionaba, a lo cuál Jamie le responde que no necesita ningún muñeco porque al verdadero Turbo-Men lo tiene en casa.
