With the apparent mad rush into the sandpit known as the metaverse, here is a film way ahead of the curve.
The strange and meaningless title has probably meant many people have just passed this by. The original book by Stanislaw Lem is The Futurological Congress, which more clearly sets it as a scifi novel. Indeed, the film is very loosely inspired by the novel, and lacks the darkness and absurdity of Lem's vision of a world so distorted by synthetic perceptions that there are few people left who know what the hell is real anymore! Assuming they're not drugged too.
Enjoy the trip.
Both of them, as they are quite different.

The metaverse = The 21st century version of Betamax ! (imo)....
I find it deeply disturbing - pointlessness would be a mere positive!

I had forgotten I had seen The Congress when it was first released until I just re-watched the trailer... good thought exercises for sure.
It reminded me a little of PAPRIKA [2007] - Official Trailer (HD)
When I was looking for the paprika trailer I bumped into this which includes another alltime favorite of mine... The Most Bizarre Japanese Anime Ever Made
Tekkonkinkreet Trailer (2011)
paprika is amazing

Giving us lots of food for thought this week rycharde
Thanks! Have been diverted for too long. Have always been a polymath, or omnivore - sometimes it creates some interesting menus. lol. So long as I find it interesting, that's all that matters.
I had to go and find that film to watch. Yes it makes you wonder about reality.
The Congress? yeah, I watched it some years ago - starts off being quite boring, then changes gear. I found it funny as the lead sees copies of herself wandering around! lmao.
Yeh I don't usually like animation but this one was trippy and retro. The whole thing was kinda trippy like actors playing their real life part.
