When I heard the name "Free Guy", I didn't quite get a picture of what the movie was about, however with Ryan Reynolds as a cast it became a matter of when to see the movie not "if" as I am a big fan of his movies. Seeing him as a cast in a movie alone makes me happy because I know for sure I'd be laughing for most part of the movie. Also, having Jodie Comer in it also makes for something to look forward after I saw her in Killing Eve. She did good in having to play both the video game developer and game player.
What is Free Guy about?
When a background player (NPC-Non-player character) in a game sought to break free as he becomes aware of his life being a game. He would race against time with the help of a game player to save his world. Love is inevitable....
Free Guy is one movie that is very easy to follow, thrilling, exciting, entertaining and fun. Every scene as something going, the storyline opens up slowly at first then picks up its pace before you know it. It follows the character called "Guy" played by Ryan Reynolds who is in a video game. As an NPC, he is wired into doing the same thing everyday, wears the same shirt, have the same coffee, walks with his best friend to work everyday and say the same exact words just like a normal video game, until.....something changed....he met her. The storyline generally covers a video game that was stolen from its creators and their bid to expose the theft and also get their games back to its original form.
You get to see a lot of fun action, as Ryan Reynolds does what he knows how to do best. I read someone said the only reason to see this movie was because Ryan was in it while the other person said Ryan made it too obvious that he couldn't even save the movie with his jokes. I guess different opinions are inevitable, I think he influenced my wanting to see the movie.
Was the movie a good one?
I think it was a good distraction for the weekend, an entertaining movie that'd give you a good laugh. I like to see movies with an open mind, I like to enjoy it the way I understand it. Which is why we may have different opinions about it, and more reason why you'd hardly see a negative review on movies I write about. Well, except they are really bad "for me". Free Guy, was entertaining enough with a beautiful romance, funny moments that'd give you a good laugh. One you can see with family or friends on a weekend. However, if you looking to see a serious straight up action movie, then you should take a pass on this one.
In addition, I am not big on video games so I really don't know how it works but I actually liked the concept of them having to wear a particular eye glass to see the real game world. There you see the weapons, accessories, money, even medical kit just as in a game. I bet game lovers would have some fun on this one.
Being able to do anything you want as an individual was an important message passed across in this movie. It encouraged individual dreams and purpose, getting out of your comfort zone...bursting the bubbles and doing something different.
Looking to see a a fun movie this weekend, you should check this out...hopefully it doesn't disappoint your expectations, isn't all perfect as there were loopholes here and there. Notwithstanding it is an entertaining one.
