Last night I watched this movie Trees of Hope and since then it has been playing on my mind. I am feeling very emotional after watching this movie and just these thoughts keep coming to mind. What is Life, why is there so much hatred, greed, violence all around us. Why can't we just live in peace and let others also. The movie is about the genocide days in Rwandan in 1994. There was a war between the 2 tribes Hutu and Tutsi where lakhs of innocent people were killed. Children, Women, Men no one was spared. The movie did not show any violence. It is a real life incident about 4 women from different backgrounds who take a hiding in their food cellar to stay protected from the unrest.
The day they get into the hiding they expected that they would get out of it in a day or two, but then the period kept extending. One of the women is pregnant 5 months when she gets into the hiding. Her husband would come every few days somehow to give them food. For 84 days they live in that small cellar which has a very small opening from which they get sunlight. They manage to make a small pit inside to urinate. It is a very inspiring story of survival. In the beginning all of them have their differences towards each other, but gradually they start feeling compassionate towards each other.
Their survival story brings tears to the eyes. Very limited food, no place to even sleep properly, barely they would be able to stand in that place. The people from outside would think it was some drainage place and some people would even pass out there. Ohh my god, I was feeling a little sick watching it. The pregnant female was the strongest emotionally and mentally and she would boost everyone to not give up. One of the girls had a story book and some pencil colors, they used that to mark days on the walls and keep writing something or the other. The story book was "Trees of Hope" and they kept reading it over and over again building up their own hope through it. They use their time to learn things from one another in whatever way they could. They come out with their deepest secrets buried deep within them to each other.
It is a story of endurance, compassion, fight for survival and hope. In such conditions all our illusions of life shatter and there is only one thing that we will understand and that is Life. 84 days they live there. The girls say they do not know when they mensurate, they have stopped urinating, they are just wanting to live anyhow and they have a hope that one day they will be out of that place living in a free world. For people who all the time complain about life, these are some of the best movies that they should watch. The genocides of different nations, the World war II Holocaust, the Cambodian genocides. All these stories bring shivers to us even listening imagine what it would have been living it.
I strongly recommend to watch this movie. These Sisters of Hope are truly very inspiring.

A great movie. I just watched it. But I think it's not the fault of people, there is always the third party that's involved. I live in Algeria and from 1994 to 1998, a lot of people also were killed there. Of course, they were always telling us that's terrorists are doing that. But now I realize that even those could be paid for doing that, or brainwashed. And the same about other African countries. Did you see how the movie started, they said that Belgium is involved someway in that. Those are all political games where regular citizens suffer. The same about the situation in Russia, they sanction the country and only people get hurt by that, but not politicians. This is the world we live in.
All the Terrorism is funded by the big Mafias sitting sophisticatedly in their Palaces and wanting to control the lives of billions of people. True, no common man wants a war. Millions of soldiers die in these wars for what? No one gains anything except for those on the top of the pyramid controlling the world. The Russia Ukraine war began in 2014 itself. The people of both these places have suffered equally and not gained anything. I have not known about Algeria, will look up to it.
Yeah, it's written about in in wikepedia. They call it Civil War just like people fight each other, but that's not true. For sure there are those who're running all this show benefitting when people fight each other. That's why even without being a religious person, I prefer to believe in God and other creature who will punish those who're creating evil on the planet. I'm praying, and I hope more people to pray in their minds at least, so we will see a better change in the world !
The negative forces are very powerful, but I too pray with a lot of faith that some day the positive forces will take over no matter how dark the night gets, there will be Sunshine some day.
