This is a movie that leaves a very deep impact on you and an eye opener as well. I have kept reading and hearing about the scams of Child protection services and the Child welfare services across the globe, but I had never known an Indian family going through this trauma. This movie is about an Indian family based in Norway and having 2 very young children, one who was still on breast feeding, and both the kids were forcefully taken away by the CPS under the pretext of parents not taking good care of the children in 2011. The mother fought for 3 years to get her children back.
Such a shameful act this is on humanity. The accusations made by CPS were all under the cultural pretext where Indians have a very different way of raising their children and while it may not suit the Norwegian culture but that does not mean it is wrong. But after all this is a money-making scam so who sees what is right and what is wrong. It's happening under a very big umbrella, so it has a very strong support to run this whole scam. Where immigrant parents are the ones who are majorly targeted in some of the western countries. Their children are taken away and then they are sold off for a heavy price.
How can a government put up a child for adoption when their biological parents are still alive. And who decides what is right for their children, the parents or the court. Only if the parents are under abusive influence like drugs, narcotics, or extreme alcohol addiction, then it is still understood that for the betterment of the child the child is taken away from the parents and a good clean home is sought for them. But here the case is so different. The children are taken away because the upbringing ways do not match with their culture, like feeding with hands or making the child sleep on the same bed with parents. It is a disgraceful and a shameful effect. This is just not a story. It's a real-life story and sadly her husband did not support her. But she fought through bravely and after a 3 year long fight, she finally managed to get her children back. I cannot believe that she had to fight to get her own children back. This is where humanity is leading to. Utter disgrace.
In the name of giving protection to children, they are putting the children and the parents through so much trauma and this is a lifelong impact on them. A mother who is sensible and in full sense is a final authority of her child and no one else. This is barbaric. From what I read about such cases, these practices are still going on, of snatching away children from poor families and putting them up for adoption to wealthier families in return of good money. It is also shameful on the part of the parents who adopt such children by not doing a proper background check of the children they are adopting. They are just using their money power to buy them, like as if they are some commodities.
I was having a mix of emotions after watching this movie, I was sad, enraged, angered and I just felt like all these people who are involved in such acts should be severely punished. A child is safest with the biological mother and no one else and only she has the right to take all the decisions on her child's behalf. I am sure all those who are involved in such activities come from broken homes and they have never understood the importance of family or never experienced a healthy family life. Only then they could have a heart to do such shameful crimes.
