Last night I watched this movie, The Children's Train, it is after a very long time that I have watched a movie with my 100% attention on it. The movie is a very emotional one and such a sweet story of a bond between mother and son. The movie is about the situation in Italy in 1940s when the men were all on the war and the women kept the society running. Living in extreme poverty and the threat of getting bombed in North Italy, the children are sent to the South for a better Life and then when the situation gets settled they return back to their homes. The transition of children from North to South and then back home again is a very emotional saga and also how it played on their psyche.
The movie has many messages to give, but what touched my heart the most is the part of 2 mothers living in different lands and taking care of a boy in different ways. One is the original mother and one the foster one, who turns out to be much kinder then the real mother. The boy comes to a stage where he willingly leaves his real mother and goes to live with his foster mother. I cried several times in the movie where the children are going through these relationship traumas.
Along with loads of emotions in the movie there is good amount of humor also, trust me once you start watching this movie you will be glued. I did not even touch my phone for these 2 hours of the movie I got so engrossed in it. The little boy Christian Cervone who plays the role of Amerigo the main character of the movie, is exceptionally brilliant in the movie. He steals the show of the full movie and our hearts as well.
I will watch this movie again for sure. The movie is released on Netflix.
