This is my latest restoration.

It is going to be when finished a Kenny Roberts (the ex grand prix world champion) Yamaha rd 350lc from 1981-2.
You could pick these up for peanuts back in the 1990's, I once bought one in bits for £100 or $140 USA.
I paid a £1000 ish for this last year in bits with two spare engines in bits.
I already had a fully rebuilt engine I had spare that needed a frame etc to put it in.
I had no idea why I rebuilt the engine at the time, it was a case of it turned up in local adverts at a very cheap price so I bought it.
Well the spares that came with the bike pulled back in over £500 so this bike now owes me time, effort and the paint scheme that has cost me £300 plus £60 for stickers/decals.

So I am £860 in to this build with them now fetching when restored way north of £12,00 to £15,000 and only going up in value. But no, I am not selling it once done, my daughter gets it for when she needs money later on in life.
The frame was down to bare metal but is now 6 coats of undercoat and the first top coat of black, it will have 10 coats of black and 2 lacquer to finish,

With it being 20c and a pleasant day I managed to paint it outside.

I had thought to get it powder coated but if paint was good enough for Yamaha then it is good enough for me.
Plus powder coating was going to cost over £100 and me painting it will cost £10 and you all know I am so tight I squeak when I walk.
I made them doors in the background, I made my own wheelbarrow using cycle front forks, so yes, squeak squeak is me. 🤣😂

It will look similar to this when finished except mine will retain original exhausts.

Right folks, nothing left to say, finishing lunch then back to painting it as tomorrow I know for sure I have to be back out planting seeds and weeding gardens.

Have a superb sunny day ahead.

I ran out of paint and had to go and buy more, and feck me it was way more expensive than 2 months ago, but hey, trust the government right!

Took this from the scrap and fixed it a bit ,

It had no carb , no brakes , a broken
chain and more ,.. run's like hell now ,.. two stroke , cc's unknown , somewhere between 60 and 90 i guess . On gravel roads it makes donuts and whit some effort wheely's to .
Restoring any further is pointless ,.. it's not a cool 80th's Yamaha that will rise in value or something , it's just for fun and practical use , as i connected a little hanger to it for transport to .
But damn man , love how you restore those bikes in to things to gaze at . ;-)

Cheers brother, I can not believe someone dumped that quad, I would have that looking better than new in 7 days flat, enjoy it, 2 strokes are getting hard to find now, and any 2 stroke is going up in value, including that quad.
