Translation: "It is better to be a king in solitude than to be a slave in prosperity." Qin Jian
This phrase reminded me of a very similar one, that it is preferable to be the head of a mouse than the tail of a lion, that is, being the head or lord of a small domain or field of power is preferable to being a servant or a subordinate in a place of much higher power.
Personally, I am not very sure that I can agree with this idea, but I think it is good to reflect on.
