You've heard this one before... and I'm about to tell you why it's true.
Happiness is an incredibly powerful tool that we all have within us. In fact, it's the single most important quality that separates successful entrepreneurs from average ones.
The problem is that we rarely take advantage of our most powerful tool. Most of us think happiness is something that happens to us instead of something we can create.
If you want to experience happiness, focus on the things that cause you to be happy. If you're naturally happy when you're laughing with friends, laugh with your friends. If you're happiest when you're working in your craft, keep practicing and improving your craft.
There are also several other things that will help you achieve a happier mindset. I'll share three of my favorites.
- Focus On The Present
Your brain is always working to predict future scenarios. If you constantly think about how you're going to feel next week, how you're going to feel in a year, or how you're going to feel in 10 years, you're not going to experience much happiness today.
The most effective way to think about how you're going to feel in the future is to focus on how you're feeling right now.
- Find Something To Be Thankful For
When was the last time you sat down and wrote down a list of everything you were thankful for in your life?
I guarantee that the list will change your perspective on your life, and make you realize that everything you have isn't all that bad.
It's a simple, yet powerful exercise that I recommend everyone does regularly. There are even apps that will do this for you.
- Get Out Of Your Head
In a nutshell, being unhappy means you've been thinking about the negative things happening in your life, instead of focusing on the positive ones.
Being happy means you're actively thinking about the good things in your life.
The easiest way to do this is by getting out of your head and spending more time with people who make you happy.
Focus on the things that make you happy instead of the things that make you sad. You'll feel better almost immediately.
Very true.
