External Negative Motivation Vs Internal Hard Work

in motivation •  4 years ago

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that among a group of hard working individuals there will be a series of common traits which they all share. And the same is true for lazy people, slobs, etc. In fact it is usually their lack of effort or laziness, which prevents them from achieving what other hard working individuals accomplish.

But it is not always so, and if one can learn how to identify hard working traits and apply them correctly one is on the road to success. In fact there are many people who have been successful despite having a hardworking attitude and even though they lacked the good looks and the personality to let others know it, these individuals made it big. And if these are the people who have the mindset and the hard work, then you can learn how to live a life with the mindset and hard work that these people possess.

Hard work and dedication are the first component of the equation and that's what this article is about. To begin with, it is necessary to have a strong commitment to do whatever it takes. No personal sacrifices necessary. The hard part is doing what has to be done in order to make it. A simple example would be when a person has to buy groceries, pay the bills, wash the clothes, pay off debts, etc. The hard part is simply doing it.

Therefore it is necessary to have a mindset that recognizes the necessity of personal sacrifices for success. But that does not mean that you should ever give up on your dreams, and it certainly does not mean that you should never ask for help. Some people have said amazing things about the power of asking for help, and the payoff in terms of personal sacrifices is immeasurable. So if you think you can just focus on and accept your personal sacrifices, then that would be a major mistake, because there will come a time when those sacrifices are not enough.

So, what about focusing instead on your hard work? Is that payoff better than the personal sacrifice? Well, in my opinion, it all depends on your frame of mind. In this article I am going to show you how to develop a frame of mind which is based on the Taylor Principle, which are an important component of psychology today, and a major step towards achieving your goals.

The Taylor Principle states, "People who concentrate on the positive and ignore the negative have what is called a positive frame of mind." You see, Dr. Taylor developed this theory of motivation as a way to help his patients overcome the negativity which was often a big hurdle in their path to success. His main point was to show that the fear that we feel on some level causes us to procrastinate, therefore stopping us from reaching our goals.

When you understand that you don't have to put up with any negative motivation, you automatically unlock the door to your true potential. I am going to give you two examples of people who definitely exemplify the power of having a positive and proactive attitude. Oprah Winfrey has always been very open about her hard work, both in her personal life and in her business. Bill Gates was also highly regarded as one of the most successful entrepreneurs of all time, and in his case, focused on his computer programming as his main source of income. These two individuals clearly exemplify what happens when you use external-negative motivation, but instead focus on your hard work.

Now here is the big question. Do you have what it takes to put in the required time and effort to have your own personal Taylor Principle motivation? If you do, you will see many different payoffs. On top of the monetary rewards, you will also unlock your mind, which is the true reward.
