8 Ways to Stay Motivated to Do Something You Are Unmotivated to Do

You have planned to do something that you feel is very important and you just can’t seem to get started. Your motivation is not strong enough to get you started.

Well, I am sure you are not alone in this, because everyone has been through it at some point in their life. If you were to ask me, I will say that my first big decision to pursue my passion was one of the most important decision that I have made in my entire life. I was very excited and motivated to do that and I was full of energy for that.

And then one fine day, my motivation and enthusiasm just vanished and I just didn’t feel like doing that anymore. And it just felt so pathetic and I was extremely disappointed that I could not do what I had planned to do in the entire year. I couldn’t understand why it happened to me.

So, I went into the whole world of the psychology and I studied about the psychology of motivation and I found that the main reason for not starting something is that our mind has already decided not to start.

Now, I don’t want to confuse you, but when you make a decision not to do something you are already thinking that you won’t be able to start. So, it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

We become a slave to our own thoughts, because it is our mind which is responsible for making us do or not do anything.

Let’s find out 8 ways to overcome this problem and stay motivated.

  1. Make an Action Plan

Every time you start feeling unmotivated you need to write down a list of things you want to accomplish before the day ends. And as you complete one thing, you can add it to the list and make it even more detailed.

Don’t think that you don’t know the reason, because your goal is to get something and you need to motivate yourself towards that goal. If you are not able to do that, don’t worry it is perfectly normal, as everyone feels like that.

The key to overcome this problem is to make a decision to do something.

  1. Give Yourself a Reward

When you achieve a milestone, reward yourself by going for a walk. When you get up from a chair or lying on the bed after sleeping, reward yourself by looking at something beautiful.

  1. Write Down a List of Good Things

If you want to start a business or learn a new skill or you want to make a dream come true, write down a list of all the good things that will happen once you achieve it.

  1. Create a Schedule and Stick To it

As you can see, a schedule is very important for staying on track. So, you need to create a daily schedule and stick to it.

  1. Find a Mentor

Having someone to guide you in your decisions is very important. When you have a mentor, you
