It is common knowledge that our emotions can have an impact on our emotional health, which can lead to subpar performance at work. Similar to how being unwell prevents you from working efficiently, mood swings can also have an impact on your productivity, sometimes for hours after work.
All of us have gotten out of bed on the incorrect side, and now all you want to do is go back to sleep and remain there all day. Sadly, it's not always feasible to do this. We are unable to face the outside world, so we must work and cannot simply stay at home.
According to a recent study, employees who had a negative attitude to begin the day experienced negative effects throughout and found it difficult to handle specific situations. Employees who had a negative attitude when they started the day essentially didn't change it and continued to be that way throughout.
Strangely enough, the employees who were unhappy did not feel less unhappy when they interacted with happy customers; on the contrary, they felt even happier when they interacted with unhappy customers.
How can a bad mood impact your productivity at work?
Your work suffers when you're in a poor mood. Everything is impacted by your emotions, including your capacity to collaborate with people and make wise decisions. Your creativity is also impacted by negativity.
Negative people frequently behave rudely and carelessly, which will undoubtedly affect how well you do at work.
We all know how bullying coworkers can turn into when there is negativity in the office. The desire for control is what motivates bullies. When a bully is in a foul mood, they may abuse their authority, and their victims may suffer from poor self-esteem and sleep deprivation, which may have an impact on how well they perform at work. In the end, this is a vicious cycle that might lead to employee absenteeism, which would essentially drive a company to its knees.
You can try these;
If you're feeling down, listen to a pleasant song to work. Our emotions are magically affected by music, which frequently makes us feel joyful or unhappy.
Make an effort to smile. A forced smile is still preferable to none at all. Even while you might not feel it, a smile can at least make someone else's day better as they pass you.
