Because of the threat of the Omicron variant of the CoViD-19 the Asia-pacific region is now beginning to impose their own restrictions which also includes India along with Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand which is hit by the Pandemic because of its big Tourism industry, then Vietnam, Myanmar, plus the Philippines, South Korea, Japan, even in Australia and New Zealand.
It will be like CoViD 2.0 just like when the Pandemic had started but unlike the original virus the mutated ones are more transmissible which is why health authorities are taking precaution so that the health care system would not collapse if things get out of hand which is why there will be restrictions like mandatory wearing of masks, face shields depending on the number of cases in one area or locality, then the CoViD pass requirement before you can use or enter a restaurant of a specific establishment.
But in other places in Europe thousands of people protest against these government rules and restrictions to help fight or combat the pandemic like what is happening now in Brussels Belgium where the Police and the people protesting are having a conflict thereby violating the rule of social distancing. The protesters also used firecrackers and stones to fight the authorities.
The protests began after it was announced the there will be again, a mandatory wearing of masks and cutting of the number of work hours or days. Last October there are also a number of protest against the using of CoViD passes just to enter some establishments especially the bar and restaurants so it exacerbated the infections as the people didn't observe the social distancing as stated above.
The same situation happens in Barcelona Spain where thousands of rallyists had protested against the said restrictions particularly with using a CoViD pass while in other places like the Netherlands they are protesting about barring the unvaccinated to go to bars, restaurants, and other public places there.
Now not less than 38 countries in the world had already reported cases of the Omicron variant in their territories and jurisdiction. The Omicron variant was first detected in South Africa and was declared by the World Health Organization as CoviD-19 variant of concern. What is worrying about the Omicron is that it is believed that the current vaccines have no effect on it because based on the research of (WHO) the Omicron variant has double of number of mutations compared to other variants of CoViD and it is said that out of 50 mutations 30 has a spike protein capable of entering the cells of humans and this factor is continually being researched upon so that the health authorities can be able to deal with it.
In my country there is no report yet about the presence of omicron as said by the Department of Health but they also said that it is just a matter of when and they are not ignoring the fact that it could wreck havoc in the population in the near future.
