The Finnish National Gallery takes its first steps into virtual reality by creating a metagallery with the support of Decentraland, Decentraland Museum District, and the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra.
This metaverse pilot project is the first of its kind for the National Gallery and will be used to learn how virtual worlds work, increasing our knowledge of the interactive projects that are or will be possible in the metaverse.
The building itself is a virtual representation of the Finnish Pavilion at the Paris World Fair Exposition in the year 1900.
The community, funded by Decentraland DAO and responsible for the Museum District, has donated the virtual plot of land on which the Metagallery has been erected.
When you visit a museum or a gallery, you see what has been curated for you.
The Finnish Metagallery in Decentraland gives you the means to choose which artworks to see. As you enter the pavilion, you will see a selection of 12 artworks by Finnish male artists, who had their works on display at the Paris world expo in the year 1900.
Want to see what their woman contemporaries were painting? Switch the artwork from the button in the middle of the pavilion to see more.
