Matheran is one of the best hill stations located on the Sahayadri range for your short trip or long stay. The trip can be very relaxing as it is covered with dense forest and a less populated region. It's one of the best and cleanest hill stations in Asia. The British government had restricted the movement of automobiles around the region.

How to reach the destination?

People around Pune and Mumbai can easily visit Matheran as it is around 90 km from Mumbai and 120 km from Pune. The easiest mode of transport would be driving by car but if you want to have other modes, then traveling by train would be the easiest choice. From Pune or Mumbai catch a train and get down at Neral. Through Neral there are local cabs that would drop you at Matheran gate. There is also a toy train that travels direct to Matheran market.

Hotels?

There are lots and lots of options for staying beginning from 5 stars to local PGs. Usually, the amount ranges between Rs 2,000 - Rs 3,000 in the off-season. It goes up to Rs 5,000 in the season.

Food?
Food options are not much you will very average choices. My suggestion would be to look for stay-in hotel options. Within the market range, you will find a few good options for local pizzas & pasta.

Points?
There are around 25+ hill points to explore but around 5-6 points are enough to enjoy your day. If you are going on site seeing then opt for the horse ride. You will definitely enjoy it.
