Fortuna (picture in a frame with the image of the goddess of luck)

in magic •  9 months ago

My unique image of the goddess Fortuna. In Ukraine, I print to order in the format of 20 x 30 centimeters and add a frame with glass. For people from other countries, I can sell the digital file itself for $80, without watermarks: on it you can print the photo yourself and add a frame yourself (either for yourself personally, or to set up the production of such paintings in your country. Selling 5-10 paintings will already return your money, included in the purchase of a digital sketch).

While the Roman goddess Fortuna was often depicted with a blindfold to emphasize the random nature of luck, there are also historical examples of her being portrayed with open eyes (both in paintings and statues).

One famous example of a depiction of Fortuna without a blindfold is the painting "Wealth and Power" by Hans Holbein the Younger, created in 1526. In this painting, Fortuna is shown with open eyes, symbolizing her foresight and control over destiny, rather than blind chance.

I wanted to depict Fortuna as loving, with a caring gaze (there are expression like "darling of Fortune"). As an antipode to the Gorgon Medusa, whose gaze kills anyone it falls upon, Fortuna's gaze enlivens and elevates to the top of the wheel of life those she chooses to look upon without a blindfold: it means that she has accepted you, singled you out from the crowd.

Of course, this interpretation is not canonical or proven, but rather my own interpretation, and I find myself strongly drawn to this image of Fortuna. I called it "Favor of Fortuna" (or "Benevolent Fortuna").
