A Reason Where Caviar can be Seen to be Valued as Gold

Across the globe, caviar stands out as one of the finest foods of extreme taste and culinary demand. It has an exquisite taste due to its very nature; this bite-sized food has always been associated with luxury. But, the peril question remains that what is the reasoning of caviar being priced so high? This paper shall try and answer the reasons that contribute towards its valuation.

1. Sturgeon Fish Population

Caviar consists of the roe of sturgeon fish, specifically the Beluga, Osetra, and Sevruga types. Such fishes are indigenous to the Caspian and Black seas and have a sustainable maturity rate of around 10 to 20 years. Many sturgeon species have undergone depletion owing to slaughtering and ecological conditions for many others. Consequently, there are many restrictions concerning harvesting. The unavailability of caviar increases its worth considerably.

2. Time Required to Collect and Process Caviar Rods

Caviar retrieval of high quality is a highly labour intensive activity which takes time. Caviar is however different and cannot be taken on routine basis like fish roe substitution of other roe. Sturgeon could produce roes only after a maturity age which may extend over the period of years, and even when produced the roes have to be cured in salt and packed in cans for high quality. Thus the amount of time one has to wait and the amount of effort to do things also makes the price higher.

Sustainable Farming Practices :

Since the majority of caviar production is now obtained from controlled fish farms, it is easier to sustain wild sturgeon populations. While it helps to conserve the species, it also results in higher costs of production. Caviar producing farmers need to simulate the natural environment of sturgeons, such as the water conditions, temperature, and even what the fish eat in order for higher quality eggs to be produced. These costs management of such farms is transferred to the consumer.

Quality and flavor Not all caviar is created equal. The best caviar is said to be of the following: Most pearls are estimated at a diameter of which minimum size is established to provide firmness of pearls (like in the beluga caviar stunning and eye-watching properties).

This very sweet, though soft, flavor has a hint of the gentle sea taste and is also thick and creamy delicacy. The more smoothly a flavor is, the more expensive the caviar will be.

Such, and even slight changes in the methods of its harvesting can apparently affect its parameters in one way or another making some caviars more tedious to attain and more expensive than others.
