I shot these in Cape Town, South Africa. I used only natural lighting and a reflector.

Absolutely stunning!
I'm interested to know from an amateur perspective - what would the light look like without the reflector? I've been doing more and more filming as of late and am learning lighting is well, everything! Can you explain it to me?
The reflector didn’t do much it was more cause the sun was so strong in Cape Town ely that sometimes you need to block bits off. I had an assistant helping with that!
I’m rly rly basic with lights in studio I mostly use one huge one like a big octabox and outside just natural light often no reflector at all. I love shooting into the sun... the thing everyone says not to do lol and getting backlighting through the models hair
Ok, sounds like you've got your own style worked out with the lighting. I suppose just try a bunch of things and be honest to see if it works. I'm on a budget and in an off-grid place so tin foil and high lumen led globes are the go. Colour correction does wonders 😆
I am super none techy really I tend to use very simple set ups like one huge octabox if it’s studio lighting and natural light I love I experiment with all the things your not supposed to do lol like work with shadows and contrast and shoot into the sun for back flare.
I shot prince Charles once with a bunch of other photographers they all had super fancy flashes, ring lights and cameras and I just used my 1.2 lens with no flash cause it’s how I like to shoot. A couple were like are you ok ahah I ended up getting my shot printed in GQ magazine and used by the palace. You rly don’t need fancy stuff.
Good to know! Thanks for the hot tip 😉
Very beautiful.
thankyou
