"How to feel loved by your tasks." is a famous quote by Tony Robbins. It's the one I always quote when I feel overwhelmed at work or when I'm about to sabotage myself in some way. Sometimes I even put it on a poster and hang it over my desk so that I can remember how I felt about all the things I did the right thing.

But I realized something very important when I got that poster with that saying. If you have this mantra in mind, then you're already a little bit loved. Why do you feel so much love for yourself though? Is this what love feels like?
Do you ever get overwhelmed with what you're doing? Do you feel like all of your energy and focus is directed into your job? Do you feel miserable every time you look at your calendar? I know what it's like because I used to feel that way too.
I spent two years in the corporate world. And I hated it! The boss was really hard and there were no personal interactions between workers. No one was really there to listen to me complain. If I spoke up for myself, the boss would get angry with me. He'd threaten to fire me for whatever reason he could think of.
When I finally left that job to start my own business, I was so excited. I was going to be more appreciated and valued. I felt I was making a difference in the world, and that I had so much to offer people. I thought that everyone loves a happy worker.
Guess what happened? Nothing happened. The same thing happened when I became a parent. My spouse and I made a big deal out of everything we did, and we loved ourselves immensely for it. People seemed to look up to us and we never once questioned their opinion.
Now I'm working from home and trying to create the same kind of impact in the world. I try to remember that feeling when I was younger and wondered how to feel loved by your children. If you can find that quality in yourself, then you can create a happy life for your kids.
Here's a hint. It's not what you do. It's who you are. It's about treating people with kindness, showing them respect, letting them into your world. If you can do those things, then you can create a miracle.
