Hello!

Today I publish a post about my #lobook initiative. Here, I share my experience about a book, beginning from the buying and finishing with my personal review. You can read more about lobook, consulting my first Lobook post here on Blurt.

AND NOW, LET'S GO!

This new episode takes a cue from the Steve Berry's novel, published with the title The Third Secret (dated back to 2005 for the native version). The Italian version I read is Il Terzo Segreto, first publication in Italy dates back to 2005 and curated by Carla Gaiba. In the image below, you can see a cover picture from which I removed a few parts, trying to avoid possible direct advertisings.

And below, some slices of the inner pages:

I bought the book several yeras ago, in the paperback format. I re-read it in the latter months. There are multiple editions with different prices, although I found paperback formats only. The first price I found surfing the web here in Italy is €5.00, and reaches €9.00. You can find different price on your homeplace or online, someone with various offers. You can find also an ebook format in Italian or English. I don't know for other languages.

TURNING PAGES

The pontiff, Pope Clement XV, seems increasingly troubled in the eyes of his faithful secretary, Colin Michener. And it is Michener who will have to help him in a worrying matter, but not before understanding that those fears concern the past and future of the Church, sabotaged and rebuilt in the image by someone who wanted to omit the truth; someone who now controls them and who is determined to stop both for the good of Catholicism, diabolically leveraging the skeletons in the closet that every man carries with him.

A novel by Steve Berry seasoned with his classic style. The narration is good, as is the pace, although the latter is not rich in action. The plot remains mostly on an abstract level, and the scenes become frenetic rarely. The plot is quite well-drawn and the type of writing - academic, but captivating and not too technical - made to follow the "thread of the speech" easy for me. A "beach read" for those who love historical curiosities, with their most hidden and mysterious sides, in this case exploited to create a good plot.

PERSONAL RATING

For my personal rating of the book, I usually use two votes: a GENERAL VOTE, based on a more objective approach to the text (where I consider for example the author's way of writing, the plot, any errors found, etc), and an INVOLVEMENT VOTE, based instead on the effect that reading had on me (if it attracted me, if it intrigued and tempted me, if it gave me useful information, etc.). Each of the two ratings is marked with a number of stars, from one to 5.

In the case of The Third Secret, my personal response is:

GENERAL Vote: 3/5
INVOLVEMENT Vote: 4/5
