Hello!

Today I publish a post about my #lobook initiative. Here, I share my experience about a book, beginning from the buying and finishing with my personal review. You can read more about lobook, consulting my first Lobook post here on Blurt.

AND NOW, LET'S GO!

This new episode takes a cue from the Steve Berry's novel, published with the title The Romanov Prophecy (dated back to 2004 for the native version). The Italian version I read is La profezia dei Romanov, first publication in Italy dates back to 2007 and curated by Beatrice Verri. In the image below, you can see a cover picture from which I removed a few parts, trying to avoid possible direct advertisings.

And below, some slices of the inner pages:

I bought the book several months ago, in the paperback format. There are multiple editions with different prices, major for the hard-cover version and minor for the softcover one. The first price I found surfing the web here in Italy is €9,00, and reaches €18,60 for the greatest. You can find different price on your homeplace or online, someone with various offers. Maybe there is even an ebook format in Italian or English. I don't know for other languages.

TURNING PAGES

Back in 1918, the Romanov family was exterminated. A methodical execution has left traces only in the written memories dating back to the time. Or at least that's what the today's population believes, the same one that wants to re-establish a monarchical state in the footsteps of the past. A strong name is already on everyone's lips, in a strategic move masterfully orchestrated by a group of conspirators seeking power. But, suddenly, those memories seem obscured by a veil of mystery, something that brings to the fore a disconcerting hypothesis for all those who think they already have victory in their pocket: not everything seems to have gone as painted, and an ancient bloodline may be the most dangerous threat to the plans in progress.

A fantasy-thriller dating back to a few years ago, written by Steve Berry. Basically, a book that borders on mystery, espionage, with a bit of action and historical mysteries to act as a connecting point. The plot is worthy of interest; not very action-packed, in my opinion a fairly slow book, but with a focus that can intrigue you.

The writing style is fluid, the scenes are painted correctly. They aren't full of superfluous details, but they reach a middle ground that my attention levels can only thank. My personal rating would be a 7/10. A holiday read for people who love and want to learn some curiosities about the past.

PERSONAL RATING

For my personal rating of the book, I usually use two votes: a GENERAL VOTE, based on a more objective approach to the text (where I consider for example the author's way of writing, the plot, any errors found, etc), and an INVOLVEMENT VOTE, based instead on the effect that reading had on me (if it attracted me, if it intrigued and tempted me, if it gave me useful information, etc.). Each of the two ratings is marked with a number of stars, from one to 5.

In the case of La profezia dei Romanov, my personal response is:

GENERAL Vote: 4/5
INVOLVEMENT Vote: 3/5
