Hello!

Today I publish a post about my #lobook initiative. Here, I share my experience about a book, beginning from the buying and finishing with my personal review. You can read more about lobook, consulting my first Lobook post here on Blurt.

AND NOW, LET'S GO!

This new episode takes a cue from the John Stephens's novel, published with the title The fire chronicle (dated back to 2012 for the native version). The Italian version I read is L'atlante di fuoco, first publication in Italy dates back to 2012, and curated by Giovanni Garbellini, illustrations by Silvia Fusetti. In the image below, you can see a cover picture from which I removed a few parts, trying to avoid possible direct advertisings.

I bought the book several months ago, in the paperback format. There are multiple editions with different prices, major for the hard-cover version and minor for the softcover one. The first price I found surfing the web here in Italy is €6.90, and reaches €17.60. For the Italian translation, you can also find a book containing the 3 volumes that make up the trilogy (paperback format) for €16.90. For individual books, there is a version in e-book format, although I don't know how many languages it's available in.

TURNING PAGES

After discovering one of the three magic books, new adventures arrive for the three protagonists: little brother Michael and sisters Emma and Kate. This time the story will lead them on the trail of the second of the tomes: the Fire Chronicle, endowed with very different powers from its sister book, the Emerald Atlas.

This is the second book in the John Stephens trilogy. The plot becomes a little more complicated, so much so that the environments and characters involved give the idea of a more adult atmosphere, with themes and subjects more seriously represented than in the first book. The logical thread that links the events can sometimes be difficult to follow, but it is worth trying. Here what appears to be enemy number one shows itself with great fanfare, although some events give rise to doubts about the real extent of the threats and who is behind them. In the third and final book, we will see how destiny will choose to unfold.

It seems that even the writing has gained a hint of seriousness. Then, nothing else to report. I liked the book, perhaps a little more than the previous one (which was richer in events, but many were perhaps slightly too surreal).

PERSONAL RATING

For my personal rating of the book, I usually use two votes: a GENERAL VOTE, based on a more objective approach to the text (where I consider for example the author's way of writing, the plot, any errors found, etc), and an INVOLVEMENT VOTE, based instead on the effect that reading had on me (if it attracted me, if it intrigued and tempted me, if it gave me useful information, etc.). Each of the two ratings is marked with a number of stars, from one to 5.

In the case of L'atlante di fuoco, my personal response is:

GENERAL Vote: 4/5
INVOLVEMENT Vote: 4/5
