Hello!
Today I publish a post about my #lobook initiative. Here, I share my experience about a book, beginning from the buying and finishing with my personal review. You can read more about lobook, consulting my first Lobook post here on Blurt.
AND NOW, LET'S GO!
This new episode takes a cue from the Amanda Lind's novel, published with the title Francys evangelium (dates back to 2010 for the native version). The Italian version I read is Il Vangelo dell'Assassina, with the first publication in Italy dates back to 2012 and curated by Sara Culeddu. In the image below, you can see a cover picture from which I removed a few parts, trying to avoid possible direct advertisings.
And below, some slices of the inner pages:
I bought the book several months ago, in the paperback format. There are multiple editions with different prices, major for the hard-cover version and minor for the softcover one. The first price I found surfing the web here in Italy is €10,00, and reaches €17,60 for the hardcover version (more difficult to find now). You can find different price on your homeplace or online, someone with various offers. Maybe there is even an ebook format in Italian or English. I don't know for other languages.
TURNING PAGES
A book that has a plot and doesn't have one: there is no real prologue or even an epilogue as we often find. There is a life story, a daily journey told like the one we can find in a soap opera. There is a mother, wife and woman, with a tough life to face. A woman who is not all roses and flowers, but who lives in a world that - in a word valid in the vast majority of countries - we could indicate as "illegal". Alongside this, a life like the one we all know, and the obvious need to be able to combine the two realities.
The novel is passable, even if it doesn't fit my canonical tastes. I found the narrative system discreet, many times with an investigation into the interiority of the protagonists; not the usual academic and informal language given to many similar texts.
Genre: I said genre, but I couldn't even point to one. This novel has little of a thriller, although there are often action contexts and some murders to pepper a less-than-boring background. Given all the thoughtful ideas and personal points of view that the protagonists tell, I would classify it very well in a general narrative (although, I repeat, a general narrative with a very "sparkling" plot).
The novel didn't keep me glued to the pages, but I can still go for a full pass. I think that people who appreciate a narrative of everyday life, set in a not-too-classic criminal context, could find it a good read to spend a few hours relaxing. It's not a book for those looking for mystery plots or unsolved crimes, a theme that the title might instead make flash in our minds.

PERSONAL RATING
For my personal rating of the book, I usually use two votes: a GENERAL VOTE, based on a more objective approach to the text (where I consider for example the author's way of writing, the plot, any errors found, etc), and an INVOLVEMENT VOTE, based instead on the effect that reading had on me (if it attracted me, if it intrigued and tempted me, if it gave me useful information, etc.). Each of the two ratings is marked with a number of stars, from one to 5.
In the case of Il Vangelo dell'Assassina, my personal response is:
GENERAL Vote: 3/5
INVOLVEMENT Vote: 3/5

A greeting and to the next book!
