3 Tips for Maintaining Good Integrity and Humility in Your Workplace

If you want to succeed in anything, you must have integrity. It is the corner stone of successful behavior. When someone says; "Have integrity" they are not necessarily talking about paying the rent. I would rather hear; "I have integrity and will not lie or cheat on you". The tenants of this house are my friends and neighbors. My mother always said to me; "If you have integrity, then nothing will hurt you and everything will be OK".

I know people that are unethical in one area but try their best to be ethical in all areas of their life. Does this make them bad people? No. Integrity allows us to move forward with our values and principles while being aware of the potential consequences. If we don't have integrity, we can easily slide back.

Children, partners and colleagues need to have strong moral beliefs and integrity if they want to create a positive work environment for everyone. Integrity also helps foster responsibility in decision-making and protects employees from harassment. With strong moral foundations, individuals are more apt to use their influence positively. And, it helps foster a positive working relationship between management and employees.

You might wonder how one can display integrity if he or she works for a company that practices illegal conduct or worse such as discrimination. The first rule for creating a good work environment is to make sure that all of your team members share your core values. Don't use your moral compass to discriminate against anyone. Everyone has the right to be treated fairly and equally. It's a wise decision to have an employee who is able to tell the truth and help resolve conflicts.

I believe the first step in having integrity means always doing the right thing. People who have integrity means they want to help people achieve their goals and do the right thing in the face of opposition or conflict. For example, when you are building a new product and working with other company developers, you need to be open and honest with them to ensure everything goes as expected.

In order to display these traits, you should spend enough time on your resume writing. Keep it simple and professional. For example, don't list your previous work experience and education just like a resume does. Include only the relevant details and put in a section where you can explain what those details are. Take time to highlight the high-quality activities and accomplishments that would make you an excellent candidate for a particular position.

The second trait to consider for having integrity is honesty. Honesty in resume writing means that you are entirely honest with your personal and professional history. For example, if you were born and raised in segregationist-controlled Georgia, don't include this in your resume even though your work history is largely Southern based. Showcase your honesty by being completely honest with your interviewer. Even interviewers are not able to assess whether or not a person has integrity, so don't lie about your background to get the job.

The third trait to consider for having integrity and honesty in the workplace is taking responsibility for your actions. You must be willing to accept responsibility for the decisions you make. If you are unsure of how to make the right decision, you may ask others for their advice. Don't blame anyone else for your choices, but instead must take responsibility for them. With honesty and integrity in your character, you will find it much easier to maintain good relationships within your organization and to achieve goals you have set for yourself.
