Do you know how to make time for the things you want to do, but don't have the time for?
If you're looking to get back into shape, lose weight, start a side hustle, or do more with your life - this is the post for you. I've compiled a list of some productivity tips for busy people that I think are going to be useful to anyone trying to squeeze more out of their day.
Step 1: Block Out A Clear Work Schedule
Block out at least 20% of your time per week for working on specific tasks. It doesn't matter if you don't get them all done, it just matters that you set aside some time every week to work on whatever projects interest you.
Step 2: Start Your Day With A 5 Minute Check-In
At the beginning of each day, spend 5 minutes checking in with yourself. Ask yourself "What would I like to accomplish today?" then write it down. The important part is taking the time to do this and writing it down before you begin. This gives you the opportunity to plan for the rest of the day and it reminds you that you've already accomplished something each morning.
Step 3: Schedule Your Day Around Your Priorities
There's nothing worse than spending a bunch of time on something only to find out it wasn't even that important after all. I recommend scheduling your time so that it's scheduled around what you actually want to accomplish each day.
For instance, if you want to lose weight, schedule time each morning to workout. If you want to work on an online course, set aside time each morning to study. This helps to eliminate the "it's already time for this so let's just see what we end up doing" kind of attitude.
The key is to block out a time and stick to it. This way you have a clear idea of what to accomplish and if you change your mind, you won't waste time getting back on track.
Step 4: Keep In Touch With Your Planner
One of the best productivity tips I learned during my own personal journey of self-improvement was to have a weekly planner. This gives you a place to store your ideas, list your daily tasks, and see if you've accomplished anything since last week.
It also gives you the opportunity to see if you're on track for accomplishing your goals. Most people don't have the discipline to stick to a weekly plan, but having an online calendar can make a big difference.
For instance, if you want to build an affiliate website, you can set aside time each week to brainstorm new ideas, read the forums, and write content. I personally use Trello because it lets me visually map out my ideas.
Once I've completed a task, I move it onto a task card so I can see if I've accomplished anything else. This is a much more accurate way of determining if you're on track for your goal.
As you might have guessed, this will require you to put
I am too busy these days.
