Get ready for your next life
It's not easy to get through this life with a clear mind, so don't let your choices impact your ability to make good decisions later on.
Let's start by defining what a decision is: it is an action, with an outcome. Choices are a series of decisions made throughout the day and often without realizing it. Every choice you make, from the color of your car to the kind of coffee you drink, will have some sort of consequence.
We all have different strengths when it comes to making decisions. Some people are better at evaluating options and others are better at taking action. Most of us have a preference between the two, but some people have little natural ability to decide or act.
Let me give you an example. I'm a fast decision maker when it comes to deciding where to eat out, but when it comes to choosing a job, I often get stuck. I need more training and practice before I feel confident in my judgment.
Deciding is easy. It's deciding whether to go with your gut instinct, take the leap, or choose the option with the highest chance of success.
Your brain doesn't care about your gut instinct, it only cares about your goal. There is a difference between your gut instinct and the desire to have a good outcome. Your goal is what you want, whereas your gut instinct is how you feel about the decision. Gut instincts are typically based on emotion and therefore you can't make objective decisions using them.
Here's the deal: if you feel like you're being forced into an action you don't really want to do, then you don't feel like you are making a decision at all. It is very hard to feel confident about a decision you haven't made.
Here's an analogy. Say you want to visit a specific country. Let's say it's Ireland. If you've never been there, you'll probably think it's too expensive. But after visiting, you might change your mind and want to visit again. You didn't want to make a decision about going to Ireland in the first place, and it took you a while to make the decision.
It's the same thing with life choices. Unless you've made them and felt the outcome, you don't have any idea of what will happen, and it's hard to evaluate your choice. In order to make the right decision you need to decide what you want. That's the true purpose of life: to make a decision.
But before you decide on your next step, ask yourself what you want to gain from it? Is the action something you want to do because you feel good about yourself? Or, is it because you want the outcome?
If you want the outcome, then you need to ask yourself, am I doing this because I want to or because I need to? Do you believe this action is necessary for you to fulfill your purpose?
The reason you want the outcome is usually tied to your ego. Your ego gets
