The Evolution of Technology: From the Industrial Revolution to the Digital Age

in life •  last year

When we look back on the history of technology, it's hard not to think about the industrial revolution. What came after that revolution was the advent of electricity, steam power, and gas powered engines. The first electric motors used in vehicles were created in the 1800s and gas powered vehicles arrived in the 1900s.

These two revolutions transformed transportation, but also our homes, industries, and lifestyles.

As these technologies became available, their affordability increased drastically, allowing them to become ubiquitous in every day life.

The next revolution was computers, followed by cell phones, then laptops, tablets, and smartphones. These devices made it possible to be connected to the internet everywhere, and to work and play while doing so.

The next big thing in technology is VR/AR. This will allow us to virtually visit different places, experience new things, or even create new things through augmented reality.

The last major technology shift we can expect in the future is the Internet of Things. Connecting everyday objects to the internet is likely to bring more convenience and efficiency to our lives.
