Destroying Yourself With the Pride of Life

in life •  2 years ago

The first step to overcoming the pride of life is to give God your heart. When you give God your heart, He promises to remove your prideful, sinful heart and replace it with a new one. Then, give your life to Him completely. Once you have a new heart, you will be free from the pride of life.

Arrogance
Pride is a sinful emotion. It manifests as arrogance, conceit, self-righteousness, and the desire to be better than others. When this emotion is not tempered, it can turn into self-destruction. Fortunately, you can overcome this disease by turning to God and trusting Him completely.

Boastfulness
When you're defying God's will, you're destroying yourself with the pride of life. The first step to overcoming this sin is to ask God to give you a new heart. He has promised to take away your pride and sinful heart and replace it with a new one, and when you fully surrender your life to Him, He will do the rest.

Self-deprecation
Self-deprecation is a common occurrence in our society. It can manifest itself in many ways, from low self-esteem to a tendency to downplay our accomplishments. Some people even use self-deprecation as a form of humor. A good example is John Mulaney's character in the 2012 comedy show "New in Town." Self-deprecation, however, can indicate self-image issues, and it may be worth seeking help.

Self-degradation
John is very clear in his words in the book of John about the pride of life and how it is caused by the love of the world. He makes it clear that if a person loves the world, they do not love the Father. He makes it clear that Adam and Eve were tempted by the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden, and they were tempted because they saw it as good for food, pleasing to the eye, and desirable for gaining wisdom.

Self-condemnation
Self-condemnation occurs when you focus on your shortcomings instead of appreciating God's grace. You will be ambivalent toward others, burying your feelings inside your body, and denying the power of God as the source of blessing and salvation. As a result, your life will be drained of vitality, confidence, and kindness. It will also drain you of your ability to praise God and help others.

Self-demotion
When someone reaches a high position, they can get caught up in a whirlwind of work and personal obligations. Although you may think you can handle the demands of a high-level job, it can affect your health. If the stress is too much, you may need to step down and reevaluate your priorities. In some cases, you may even discover that you had more fun at a lower-level job.
