A study has shown that positive emotions have a strong relationship with commitment. This may be because these emotions help people form bonds with others, especially if they are committed to the cause they are passionate about. These positive feelings can be expressed in many ways, including as a sense of accomplishment or satisfaction, or as joy.
Conscientiousness
People who are high in conscientiousness are generally ambitious and committed to their goals. People who are low in conscientiousness, however, tend to be lax, impulsive, and may not be so concerned with others' feelings. This trait helps them accomplish their goals with proper planning and internal motivation. They also tend to avoid trouble. However, they may run into problems when they have to make a last-minute decision or fail to adhere to a strict schedule.

Extraversion
This study found that extraversion predicts success in achieving a range of goals. The relationship between extraversion and goal attainment was most strongly associated with spontaneous and sociable extraversion states. However, the results did not hold for other types of goals and traits.
