Simple Tips for a Happy Holiday Season

Holidays are coming and they are bringing with them many opportunities for success.

But we don’t want to let the season pass by without recognizing all the good things that are going on in our lives. So here are some quick tips for a happy holiday season.

STEP 1: Take Notice of What Matters

Start by noting everything you can about the season. This includes your favorite memories and traditions. For example, does your family love watching Christmas specials? Do you go outside and look at the lights? Does your church or synagogue hold holiday services? Do you attend holiday dinners?

Then take a moment and reflect on the blessings of your life. This can be as simple as a reflection on your health and well-being, or it can be more focused on your business and financial well-being.

Don’t worry about being too specific. Just write a sentence or two about how you are doing in each area. You can add this list to your planner or journal to keep track of your progress over time.

STEP 2: Take Action on What Matters Most

Next, pick one of the areas that matters most to you. It doesn’t matter which one; just pick one that you’d like to improve. Write down what you’ll do to achieve this goal.

Once you do this, then make sure you actually do it. And you can always find another way to increase it next year.

For example, say you want to spend more time with your kids. You might decide that one of the easiest ways to do this would be to schedule more play dates with their friends. Don’t think about your goals during the season; think about them throughout the year and act on them regularly.

STEP 3: Celebrate What’s Working

And finally, take a moment to acknowledge all the good things in your life. Maybe it’s your success, your relationships, your fitness or your family. You might even try giving yourself a gold star for something you did well.

This is a perfect opportunity to recognize your successes. You don’t need to write a full page of prose, just a sentence or two will do.

Happy Holidays! I wish you good health and joy in the New Year!
