We all get busier and busier, and with the economy still on shaky ground, we need to cut down on expenses and maximize our time, especially when it comes to our writing.

Sometimes it's hard to find the time to write because you're busy working on other projects. That's why it's so important to write every day! It helps you to keep your ideas fresh and creative, plus it gives your brain a break from more mundane tasks.

Here are 10 things to do when you have a busy day. This list is not meant to exhaust you, but to help you enjoy your writing day even more by making sure it's well-organized.

  1. Set Up Morning Routines - You're much more likely to get stuff done if you're in a routine. Get up at the same time and put your alarm clock on your computer. When you get there, start your morning routine.

  2. Start a Writing Journal - Keep a small notebook where you write down the ideas that pop into your head. Even if you don't write anything down immediately, jotting them down later will save your mind some room to think about them later.

  3. Read News - Stay current on the world around you, and read articles that give you inspiration. You can also use news sites like Reddit to find inspiration.

  4. Check Email - We live in a time where we can communicate more effectively via email. It's important to know what has been going on with your client's project, and it's even more important to get back to them quickly when you receive emails.

  5. Respond to Emails - When someone sends you an email, make sure you respond quickly. It's easy to get behind with emails, but if you've got a lot of messages waiting for you, this isn't the time to procrastinate.

  6. Work on Blog Post - If you've been meaning to write a blog post, use the time while waiting for someone to send you something for them. You don't need to sit down and craft a masterpiece; even if you spend only five minutes, it's better than nothing.

  7. Write a Daily Goal - Sometimes you'll write a rough draft of a blog post that gets sent to clients, but you haven't gotten to the point of editing it yet. In this case, write down your goals for the day and then make sure you stick to them.

  8. Review Projects - Take a step back and look at the work you have done. Make sure it was satisfactory and that it meets their needs.

  9. Set Next Day Goals - This is a great way to stay motivated. Find out what your next project is and set a goal to finish that within a day or two.

  10. Plan Ahead - Set a daily to-do list that you can easily check off as you complete the tasks.
