Today, I am going to write about the most exciting part of our trip. After leaving Dambulla, we went directly to Pidurangala.
We had already watched some videos about the place and had a good understanding of it and the time the hike would take.
As Pidurangala is a temple, we had to wear closed clothes, but the hike is difficult with such attire. So we prepared for that as well.
We had to enter the temple first, and from there we could start the hike. Even though it was noon, we didn't face any difficulties as the route passed through the jungle.
There were stone steps, so climbing up wasn't that difficult. There was plenty of freedom to enjoy nature as well.
We had to pass multiple rock caves, and the last cave just before the top had a Buddha statue made of bricks.
Once past the statue, we encountered a rocky area with no way up other than climbing the slippery rocks. It was quite adventurous, and we had to be careful.
After climbing to the top, we were impressed by the amazing view of Sigiriya from there. We never thought it would be this amazing. It was like all our tiredness just vanished. Thankfully, it wasn’t sunny at the top for some reason.
There were some visitors already there, and also some dogs! We spent some time sitting there, watching the breathtaking scenery. A foreign couple helped us take some photos. This place was on our bucket list.
It took us about 45 minutes to climb up and 30 minutes to climb down. The place is really worth visiting.
After climbing down, we went directly to the hotel we had reserved. See you tomorrow with part 2.
