Today, I am going to write about how the first morning half of our trip went. We left home promptly at 6 a.m., and this time, we brought breakfast and lunch along. The weather was ideal, and thankfully, there was no rainfall on the way. We followed Google Maps to reach our first destination, Dambulla Cave Temple.

It took only 4 hours for us to reach Dambulla. The only issue was that it was quite sunny when we arrived there. The Dambulla area was kind of dry, and it seems they haven't had rain recently.

Actually, our memory was a bit wrong; we thought we didn't have much to climb to the cave temple. So, I didn't bring a water bottle with me. But it was quite difficult to climb up under the burning sun and with no water. More than anything, the fever hidden inside our bodies made the hike further tiresome.

Anyway, we took stops and climbed to the cave temple. On top, there was water, so I drank enough to overcome my thirst.

After removing our shoes, we entered the cave temple. I have been here a long time ago, and the inside of the caves haven't changed since then. It was a very pleasant feeling inside the caves, which housed some Buddha statues. It is said that 153 Buddha statues are placed inside 5 caves.

There were lots of tourists at the place, and it seemed they were really curious about the interior and the cave structure.

Climbing down, we went to the Dambulla Golden Temple which is located on the way. Due to the sunny weather, we didn't spend much time there. This place is also a very famous tourist attraction.

We finished the Dambulla temples by 12 noon, and our next destination was Pidurangala. Stay tuned to see how our Pidurangala visit went.
