Even though I am still undergoing treatments for my tooth, I had a craving to make a platter at home. Actually, our visit to KiXi gave me this idea as their rainbow pancake dish was beautifully decorated with colorful fruits. So, after referring to an endless amount of beautiful platter ideas available on Pinterest, I decided to come up with a great platter idea.
As this platter is only for the two of us, it was enough to have two apples, one mandarin, some cheese slices, a few chicken ham slices, a packet of crackers, and a packet of potato snacks. We used spicy-flavored rice crackers for this.
For dips, I made three kinds. One is made with cheese mixed with green chili. The second dip is made by mixing tomato sauce and mayonnaise plus chili flakes. The third dip is made with curd, garlic, and green onion, mixed with pepper, salt, and a little bit of sugar to balance the taste.
I had a wooden tray at home and I cleaned it well. First, I placed a parchment paper on the bottom. Then, I placed the dips randomly and arranged the sliced fruits accordingly. I then placed the remaining crackers, cheese, and ham.
Even though the platter came out nicely, I felt like I missed something in red color but I couldn't get strawberries or grapes. My tray nicely fit all the items we had prepared.
We prepared strawberry and guava mojitos to have with the platter. It was really enjoyable and the dips perfectly matched each food. Especially, the curd dip was super delicious with crackers.
The platter was more than enough for the two of us and we shared a few items with Harith's sister too. Maybe next time we can go for a bigger platter!
