Overcoming Procrastination: Simple Strategies for Success

in life •  2 years ago

It’s tough to get started. And once you get started, it can be hard to keep going.

That’s why procrastination is so pervasive. It’s easy to avoid making things happen. The problem is, once you start avoiding things, you stop getting the results you want.

Procrastination is the enemy of success. If you want to change your life, you have to beat it.

And beating procrastination starts with a simple question: Why am I doing this?

Why not just get started?

There are two reasons we don’t do things. The first is fear: the fear of making mistakes or of being embarrassed by our incompetence. The second is apathy: the feeling that doing things will never make us happy.

We all feel like this sometimes. But, there’s a simple strategy for overcoming procrastination: ask why.

Ask yourself: Why am I doing this? What’s in it for me? Is this helping me accomplish my goals?

If the answer is yes, then it’s time to start. But, if the answer is no, don’t push it. Instead, find another task to do. Don’t let procrastination control you.
