Crónicas de un Mundo en Conflicto: Bienvenidos al Tercer Mundo. [ESP-ENG]

La historia de la humanidad ha sido una de constante movilización e intercambio cultural.

Desde la migración de los judíos hacia su “tierra prometida”, hasta la llegada a América de un grupo de Europeos, ambiciosos y desorientados, las grandes diásporas de gente han cambiado sustancialmente las vidas de los inmigrantes y de los residentes del área que recibe a los inmigrantes.

Lamentablemente, inseguridades y prejuicios han hecho que la intolerancia contra los inmigrantes también haya existido siempre.

A lo largo de la historia han sido etiquetados con todos los nombres posibles, desde invasores subdesarrollados, hasta pestes u hordas de salvajes “tercermundistas” que serán una carga para el sistema.

Inicialmente, el concepto de los tres mundos fue acuñado para describir la clara estratificación que se desarrolló desde tiempos medievales, en los que el Primer Mundo era la nobleza, y los clérigos y los ciudadanos comunes conformaban la segunda y tercera capa del sistema. Esos términos se empezaron a utilizar posteriormente para distinguir al Primer Mundo capitalista y "democrático" del segundo bloque soviético y dictatorial.

Bajo ese razonamiento, todos los países que no se alinearan con ninguna de esas dos doctrinas eran relegados a ser parte del Tercer Mundo. Poco después, esas etiquetas también empezaron tener una connotación de desarrollo cuando se refiere al Primer Mundo, y de subdesarrollado cuando se habla del Tercer Mundo, confirmando, como si fuera necesario, la evidente polarización que caracteriza a la humanidad.

Tercermundismo vs. Primermundismo.

Nunca me sentí tercermundista hasta que vi con mis propios ojos el rechazo e intolerancia de los “desarrollados”. Pero no reniego de ninguna de esas etiquetas, porque no me avergüenza ser un hombre común; un tercermundista descontento, acostumbrado al exceso de trabajo y la poca paga; un crítico de esa corporocracia oligárquica disfrazada de democracia que nos emboba con discursos de igualdad, progreso y poder para la gente pero que sabe sólo del poder del dinero; un inmigrante de un país subdesarrollado y deliberadamente explotado que se pregunta ¿Y yo por qué no tengo derecho a vivir bien?

Ese sistema piramidal siempre ha existido, pero nunca había infectado tantos rincones del planeta como hoy, manteniendo a unos pocos privilegiados que viven con relativamente mayores lujos que el Tercer Mundo, el cual es explotado para satisfacer las necesidades del Primer Mundo.

Ahora tenemos una corporocracia oligárquica que sólo se ha perfeccionado con el paso de los años, haciéndose más efectiva en manipular las masas con un proceso de estupidización caracterizado por incesantes recortes en el presupuesto educativo y una prensa comprada para perpetuar mentiras y producir miedo e ignorancia.

Funcionarios gubernamentales, que dividen sufridamente su tiempo sirviendo como representante del gobierno y de alguna(s) corporaciones, son ahora la nueva camada de dictadores que dirigen destinos, declaran guerras, y venden armas y petróleo para tener más dinero en su cuentas bancarias.

Incluso han creado entes internacionales que dicen promover el desarrollo pero que son sanguijuelas chantajistas que otorgan préstamos con intereses altísimos, imposibles de pagar, para producir más pobreza, mano de obra barata y tener acceso a cada vez más preciosos recursos naturales.

Ladrones y asesinos, de saco y corbata y sonrisa falsa.

Esos ladrones y asesinos, de saco y corbata y sonrisa falsa, se han metido al bolsillo a los periodistas, quienes siguen, como perrito tras la bola que tira su amo, la historia que los políticos inventan cada semana.

Hay un interés mutuo por ocultar las incompetencias del otro. Los periodistas no hacen un profundo reporteo que analice causa y efecto, a veces por estar presionados por dar la primicia y otras veces por incompetencia, y los del gobierno retribuyen con su repertorio de citas textuales jugosas para cualquier ocasión.

Los periodistas auténticos se están extinguiendo y se están pareciendo cada vez más a agentes de relaciones públicas que simplemente repitan con rapidez todo lo que los agentes gubernamentales digan, y limiten su análisis a hacerse entrevistas entre ellos.

Aunque era sabido públicamente que todos los terroristas del 2001 habían obtenido visas en el sistema de inmigración, algunos propusieron defender las fronteras para proteger mejor al país, pero increíblemente sólo mencionaron la frontera del sur.

El oportunismo y la incompetencia de la clase política.
No sólo quedó en evidencia el oportunismo para empujar una agenda arcaica y xenófoba, sino también la facilidad con que el pueblo ha llegado a creer en cualquier cosa que dicen sus "elegidos" representantes.

Así las mentiras comienzan, inventadas por infalibles políticos para desviar la atención popular de sus incompetencias, y son perpetuadas en los medios de comunicación con desalmadas calumnias, como culpar a los inmigrantes por la recesión, el terrorismo, el debacle del seguro social y, ¿por qué no?, el calentamiento global.

Si la mayoría de gente se guía por lo que digan estos medios de comunicación, ¿es posible tener una población informada y educada?

Uno de los requisitos básicos para que la democracia funcione es tener una población que esté informada y participe políticamente, pero acá eso es casi inexistente por una prensa mediocre, un sistema educativo sin presupuesto y un desinterés masivo por el sufragio.

Los payasos se distinguen entre sì sólo por el color de su corbata.

Aparte de que elegimos siempre entre dos payasos que se distinguen sólo en el color de su corbata, tenemos delegados, “überdelegados” y colegios electorales que nos recuerdan que el voto de la gente no vale en verdad nada.

Desafortunadamente, si alguien levanta su voz en protesta es rápidamente calificado como antipatriota, comunista y, más recientemente, terrorista, dejando en evidencia que la gran mayoría intolerante asocia la crítica con el desprecio y se olvida que la crítica que vale la pena se hace porque algo te importa y quieres verlo mejorar.

Pero nadie asume responsabilidades y hasta tratamos como héroes a esos bárbaros funcionarios públicos que, luego de hacer billones y retirarse, se dedican a ser oradores en ceremonias o a escribir libros, mientras que los que sufrieron sus abusos viven peor que antes y se ven obligados a irse de su hogar para sobrevivir.

Muertes, desigualdad y explotación en el planeta.

Los “tercermundistas” vinieron motivados por políticas inhumanas que han generado muertes, desigualdad y explotación en el planeta, y ahora que llegan a EE.UU. por un pedazo del pastel “primermundista”, son discriminados y limitados por un sistema que se ufana de su igualdad y oportunidad.

Sí, soy del tercer mundo, ese que queda detrás de Mercurio y Venus, justo antes de Marte. Es un lugar donde todos los días el sol o una sonrisa nos recuerdan que la hermosura abunda, pero en el que lamentablemente hermanos y hermanas viven separados por fronteras, ambiciones y prejuicios.

Aunque no le guste a muchos, en este planeta todos somos tercermundistas, sin importar nuestro color, credo, idioma o estado de cuenta bancaria. Si no te consideras uno, entonces debes ser un extraterrestre que vive completamente alejado e ignorante de nuestros problemas.

Y como yo sí creo en igualdad, no los juzgaré ni mediré con su propia vara, porque terminaría en protestas con otros intolerantes cargando un cartel que diga: ¡Extraterrestres a su casa!

The history of humanity has been one of constant mobilization and cultural exchange.

From the migration of the Jews to their "promised land", to the arrival in America of a group of ambitious and disoriented Europeans, the great diasporas of people have substantially changed the lives of immigrants and residents of the area receiving the immigrants.

Unfortunately, insecurities and prejudices have meant that intolerance against immigrants has also always existed.

Throughout history they have been labeled by every possible name, from underdeveloped invaders to pests to hordes of "Third World" savages who will be a burden on the system.

Initially, the concept of the three worlds was coined to describe the clear stratification that developed from medieval times, in which the First World was the nobility, and the clergy and common citizens made up the second and third layers of the system. These terms were later used to distinguish the capitalist and "democratic" First World from the Soviet and dictatorial Second World.

Under this reasoning, all countries that did not align themselves with either of these two doctrines were relegated to being part of the Third World. Shortly thereafter, these labels also began to have a connotation of development when referring to the First World, and underdeveloped when referring to the Third World, confirming, as if it were necessary, the evident polarization that characterizes humanity.

I never felt Third Worldist until I saw with my own eyes the rejection and intolerance of the "developed". But I do not disown any of those labels, because I am not ashamed to be a common man; a discontented Third Worldist, used to overwork and low pay; a critic of that oligarchic corporocracy disguised as democracy that dupes us with speeches of equality, progress and power for the people but knows only about the power of money; an immigrant from an underdeveloped and deliberately exploited country who wonders Why don't I have the right to live well?

This pyramid system has always existed, but never before has it infected so many corners of the planet as it does today, supporting a privileged few who live in relatively greater luxury than the Third World, which is exploited to satisfy the needs of the First World.

We now have an oligarchic corporocracy that has only been perfected over the years, becoming more effective in manipulating the masses with a process of stupidization characterized by incessant cuts in the educational budget and a press bought to perpetuate lies and produce fear and ignorance.

Government officials, who painfully divide their time serving as representative of the government and some corporation(s), are now the new breed of dictators who run destinies, declare wars, and sell arms and oil to have more money in their bank accounts.

They have even created international entities that claim to promote development but are blackmailing leeches that grant loans with very high interest rates, impossible to pay, to produce more poverty, cheap labor and to have access to more and more precious natural resources.

Thieves and murderers, in coats and ties and false smiles.

These thieves and murderers, wearing jackets and ties and false smiles, have put journalists in their pockets, who follow, like puppies chasing the ball thrown by their master, the story that politicians invent every week.

There is a mutual interest in hiding each other's incompetence. Journalists do not do an in-depth cause and effect analysis, sometimes because they are pressured to give the scoop and other times because of incompetence, and those in the government retribute with their repertoire of juicy quotes for any occasion.

Authentic journalists are dying out and are becoming more and more like public relations agents who simply repeat in rapid succession whatever government agents say, and limit their analysis to interviewing each other.

Although it was publicly known that all of the 2001 terrorists had obtained visas in the immigration system, some proposed defending the borders to better protect the country, but incredibly only mentioned the southern border.

The opportunism and incompetence of the political class.

Not only was the opportunism to push an archaic and xenophobic agenda evident, but also the ease with which the people have come to believe anything their "elected" representatives say.

So the lies begin, invented by infallible politicians to divert popular attention from their incompetence, and perpetuated in the media with heartless slander, such as blaming immigrants for the recession, terrorism, the social security debacle and, why not, global warming.

If most people go by what these media outlets say, is it possible to have an informed and educated population?
One of the basic requirements for democracy to work is to have a population that is informed and participates politically, but here that is almost non-existent due to a mediocre press, an educational system with no budget and a massive lack of interest in voting.

The clowns are distinguished from each other only by the color of their ties.

Apart from the fact that we always choose between two clowns who differ only in the color of their ties, we have delegates, "überdelegates" and electoral colleges that remind us that the people's vote is not really worth anything.

Unfortunately, if anyone raises their voice in protest they are quickly labeled as unpatriotic, communist and, more recently, terrorist, making it clear that the vast intolerant majority associates criticism with contempt and forgets that worthwhile criticism is made because you care about something and want to see it improve.

But no one takes responsibility and we even treat as heroes those barbaric public officials who, after making billions and retiring, dedicate themselves to being speakers at ceremonies or writing books, while those who suffered their abuses live worse than before and are forced to leave their homes to survive.

Deaths, inequality and exploitation on the planet.

The "third worlders" came motivated by inhumane policies that have generated deaths, inequality and exploitation on the planet, and now that they come to the U.S. for a piece of the "first worlder" pie, they are discriminated against and limited by a system that boasts of their equality and opportunity.

Yes, I am from the third world, the one behind Mercury and Venus, just before Mars. It is a place where every day the sun or a smile reminds us that beauty abounds, but where unfortunately brothers and sisters live separated by borders, ambitions and prejudices.

Although many may not like it, we are all third worlders on this planet, regardless of our color, creed, language or bank account status. If you don't consider yourself one, then you must be an alien who lives completely aloof and ignorant of our problems.

And since I do believe in equality, I will not judge you or measure you by your own yardstick, because I would end up in protests with other bigots carrying a sign saying: Aliens go home!
