Rules or Good Practices?

in life •  last year

I am a person who does not believe in rules and I do not like it, especially when anyone tries to enforce any of their beliefs on me making it as a rule. I withdraw from all such places and people. I personally believe one thing that more than rules, discipline is important and if that is inculcated rules will never be required.

Same is the principle for my home also, we do not have any hard rules in our home, but yet we have some subtle rules and they are not out of compulsion, they have formed as a discipline and are a way of our lives in general.

In my home, we never shout and talk with one another. there are never any raging conversations or anger talks. If there are any disputes, we talk with one another in a very humanly way. When my mom-in-law was there, and I would have some differences with her, I would always wait for my Son to be out of the home, when he is in school or out with his friends only then we will make conversations and settle our disputes. No one ever uses abusive or foul language in my home. The 3 of us, which is me, hubby and son have never had this habit of using any foul words or abusive language, so it never comes in our home space.

If anyone of us is sad in our home, it is any unspoken rule that be it whatever the difference or problem between us we will still be together for each other. No one in my home is allowed to be sad and feeling lonely ever.
My Son has seen this environment from the time he has been a baby and he has also shaped up in this manner and that's where I call discipline comes into place in our homes.

We should not be enforcing any good practices; we should always be following them so that they become a normal part of our lives. When something is set as a rule it is very easy to break it, but when we start believing into something then we do not break that.

What are the good practices of your home?
