I keep thinking that I want to completely quit on the corporate world but have not been able to make that decision. Though by end of this year I am thinking that I will quit completely. I am not working in a full time job. I work as an HR freelancer, so one thing is that I work at my convenience on my own timings. I am now not taking up any new projects and winding off the existing ones, mentally preparing myself to quit.
Yesterday I received a call from one of my old client, and they now want me to take up one of their new venture. The Company is based in Dubai so it’s a remote working for me. On the first request I refused them, and then they called me up and insisted that I should think about taking up this project for a period of 1 year minimum. The CEO is also a good friend of my hubby, so I am in a spot now, because the request has been coming up from all sides. Last year I finished one of their projects and they were very happy with my work, but honestly I was not very happy with their working conditions. Not for me, but the way they treat their employees. I was not happy with that part.
When they called, first of all I put all my conditions if I have to take up their project, they noted down all my requests, but yes they did not commit on anything. I am sure they would also take their time to evaluate my terms and then make a decision. I want a complete flexible working environment and I already have something’s planned up for this year where I need multiple 100% breaks, so they have to evaluate all of those and let me know.
I also put some conditions on team management set up, since this is a new venture, I thought it will be good to set things in the right mood from the beginning, which is a win-win situation for all.
Though I have put across all my conditions, but in my mind I am still battling, if they agree to my terms should I go ahead with. I was so preparing myself to quit and now this for another one more year, is a question for me. On one side I am thinking that it is a good opportunity and I will be working at my convenience so there is no pressure for me on maintaining timings plus some extra money. The other thing is these people are known to me, like a family, so if I am in the capacity I should help them set up their venture. But then, if I keep extending like this every time, I will never be able to quit completely and move to the next phase of my life which is completely opposite of the Corporate world, focusing more on wellness.
Somewhere in my mind I am also hoping they themselves drop the idea of considering me for this project given all my terms and conditions, so that this dilemma ends for me
