Why Winners Never Quit and Quitters Never Win - How Can I Win?

in life •  2 years ago

If you've ever wondered why winners never quit, there's a simple answer: they don't. They have more challenges than quitters do, but they rarely give up. The only difference is that quitters have only one area of their life where they've been successful. By applying the mental toughness they have developed in one area to another, they can leverage their success from that area to their next endeavor.

Quitters are looked down upon as failures
Why do we look down on quitters as failures? It's because successful people don't talk about the things they gave up. Instead, they tell us all the amazing things they did when they finally did start working again. The reason we look down on quitters is because they lack drive, discipline, determination, and desire. They tend to abandon a project too easily and seek shortcuts. Furthermore, they want others to think they're bad, and they gossip and backbite.

In fact, most great people in history have reached their greatest achievements after having failed at something. And most of them have failed multiple times before achieving their greatest success. Success is not easy, and most people will feel like quitting multiple times. It is impossible for a person to achieve greatness if they were contented with their current situation. Therefore, if they were happy with their lives, they wouldn't pursue it.

However, we can choose to quit our negative habits in a positive way. Positive quitting is a positive process, and involves reflection about progress and anticipated effects of giving up. It is typically a conscious decision that results in an action you want to avoid. In the long run, it's best to quit things you don't feel passionate about, or if you feel that they don't match your expectations.

Quitters never reach their goals
In sports, the Vince Lombardi quote "Quitters never reach their goals, and winners don't quit." has been a motivation for athletes and non-athletes alike for decades. It highlights the need to work hard to achieve your goals, and the importance of staying the course when obstacles arise. Success takes time, and the winners know that a successful life doesn't come without hard work.

Similarly, in business, there are many examples of people who succeeded despite having to struggle. For instance, J.K. Rowling struggled as a single mother but persevered to achieve her dream of writing a book. She didn't give up hope of being successful; she didn't quit until she realized her ability to tell stories. Many of the most successful people in history have overcome obstacles but never quit on their dreams.

Remember the situation or life that made you unhappy before you decided to quit. These feelings will linger with you until you return to it. This pain will soon dissipate and something else will take its place. When you realize that you will never achieve your goals again, it will help motivate you to keep working. By reminding yourself of what you will be going back to, you'll be motivated to go onward.
