Dear all Hive friends, this time I would share the progress of breeding chickens. I tried to use measurement to know how tall and long my chickens are.

After 35 days, the biggest chicken has 20 cm tall and 20 cm long.

I give intensive care to my chickens. I feed them at night too because I put on lamp in the cage. The chickens will be noisy at night when they are hungry.

The fur has fully grown in all the part of my chicken body. It looks brown with little white fur.

I have spent IDR 56,000 or $3.7 to feed the chickens. I record all expenses.

I do not give supplement. I just give factory feed and water. I breed Lohman brown race.

There are various races of layers but the available race is Lohman brown or ISA brown. In Indonesia, these two races are produced by big companies.

Local races will be a choice in the future

I plan to breed local races. Local races have tastier meat. Their production of eggs is not high. The price of local races chickens is higher than factory bred chickens. However, the demand of local races chickens is not high.

It will increase on the special occasion like New Year, Iedul Fitri and National celebrations.

Investing layers chickens will benefit for daily income but investing local races chickens is a kind of medium investment. Local races chickens will have higher price at the age of 6 months old.

I think it is not bad to purchase adult roosters and hens to produce chicks. This strategy will save expenses to buy DOCs. I hope my plan to invest in local races chicken will be implemented in the coming month. Thanks ..!
