Plumbing Problems

HI Friends,

Are you a handy person who is good at "do it yourself" repairs? I am not really that handy of a person, and usually have to call a repairman if I can't find the answer on YouTube. Unfortunately, I just was never taught about a lot of household repairs growing up (maybe I didn't show any interest) so most of it is from experience as I encounter issues.

Once such issue occurred the other day at a family vacation house - a busted water pipe that required shutting off water to the whole house as it was shooting everywhere:

Whoever put the house spigot together put bad metals together - copper with galvanized pipe plus brass. It corroded the galvanized pipe and the copper fitting was no longer usable. With the help of an uncle, we heated up the unit with a blowtorch, pulled off the copper piece, replaced it, sautered it together, then added the new brass spigot with no galvanized peices. The process took 3 hours, but it finally got fixed.

Learning more everyday...

Thanks for coming by,
Brian
