Many has lost their way due to the comparison with people called "mates". The statement "look at your mates" has done more harm than good in people's life.
If you want to really be happy with yourself, you have to banish the word 'mates' entirely from your life. There is nothing to be gained by comparing yourself with people all the time, it makes you devalue your own self.
There is no reason to be sad when you are not doing well in life compared to your mates as they said, it does not mean all hope is gone. Everyone all have their own race and calling in life, you all cannot be successful at the same time, life does not work that way.
You should be happy that you are now a better version of yourself today than you were yesterday. The real competition is between you not with others, because no matter how successful you are, people will still be better than you, there is no need fighting for what you cannot control.
There is no happiness for those who keep comparing themselves with their mates. You keep comparing yourself with people who are not of the same calling with you, their sources of income you are yet to know, don't know the true story of
who they really are.
Kill that mindset of wanting to compare your growth and everything you do with that of others, never align yourself with that pattern. You only know yourself, and only do, the only thing that you should focused on is only becoming a better version of yourself and nothing else matters, let others live their lives they way they want.
