Yeah, ive been doing fiddly bits in new house - useless internet, doors jamming, washing machine needs some spare parts, metal door needs filing down a corner - all boring physical shit - and planting seeds to create a herb garden. Veg are so cheap here, best to grow things that are expensive or rare, eg rocket salad.

You have the perfect weather for year round growing and multiple times a year, perfect.
I once rented an apartment in Jomtien where the plug hole in the sink and shower was higher than the floor and sink, after having a shower I had to use a window scrapper to get the water down the hole, by the time I finished I needed another shower, I know all too well about Thai building.

The most retarded thing here is obviously new curtains... except the curtain rail means you can't open the windows! The mosquito net windows open inwards.

That place I rented also had the front door on wrong, the key hole was on the inside so they had to break the door down to show me it lol. I should have turned around and walked away there and then,

haha, maybe this needs more stories - The Botched and the Bungled.

LOL yep, like my buddy in Thailand who left a Thai to paint his house due to work permits and all, his house was in Chunburi if that is the right way to say it, he wanted his house painted in white, he got back and it was bright green, the guy said he got "good price Mr" on green paint LOL.

These are people who will buy a car coz they like the colour.

Trump you.

Had a guy install some pipes in a house, to divert the runoff from the roof to the back of the yard behind which was a pond. OK, not hard, run the pipe along the garden wall then down the other side. I come back...

... he installed the pipe diagonally across the whole garden at face height!!! WTF. This is not retarded - this is a different species.

I made him do it properly.

WTF. This is not retarded - this is a different species. 😂😅😂 I have seen it all over there, two guys on a moped in Bangkok with a ladder over there heads/necks, sticking out 5 feet front and back, any accident, no heads left, and the name on the ladder was rung lol.

That's just fatalistic - different to being dumber than a coconut shell. But I doubt it's just here... but need such stories from other countries.

Planting the wrong trees next to houses seems to be a good one. I went to see one house... they had built an extension that was slowly sliding into next door's garden... looked at the ground and was made of solid roots. Looked around... the house next door had been abandoned coz they'd planted this enormous tree that as engulfing the house - and foundations - dunno what it was, some kinda pine... but footprint must have been 40m wide! I backed out. That tree belonged in a forest.

Papaya is another good one - I've seen it destroy walls - quite amazing the slow power of some plants to destroy concrete.

How did you get in after that?
You actually rented it!? pml

They changed the door for a new one, should still have walked away.
