The Illusion of Balance in Life and its Impact on Mental Health

Balance is a fascinating notion. It was drawn by someone who didn't consider the impact it might have on young minds. It's the beautiful lie that we all wish to live. But here's the kicker: adults have life mapped out to some extent, and they aren't telling us. They do not explain that equilibrium is an illusion. You might disagree with me, but this is an opinion post. Balance refers to an equitable distribution of weight, which allows someone or anything to stand erect and steady. Biologically, this makes perfect sense. We must be coordinated in order to walk and stand without wavering or tripping. It is not intended to be a social idea.

Trying to strike a balance with everything you have to do can be extremely difficult. It would be advantageous if you pushed hard to advance your job while also wishing to explore the world. For example, if your employment does not enable you to get around the world, you may become nervous when you watch your peers achieve their 25-country goal before the age of 25. But keep in mind that you chose this career because you were passionate about it. If only they had included the sentence "there is no balance," anxiety would not have entered your head. You might even choose to study first, then pursue a career and make trips later in life.

However, the appearance of finding equilibrium at such a young age causes you to seek a world that you cannot have without ruining your mental health.

When we zoom in on university students, we can see that they are also fighting with the same Illusions. A medical student has an enthusiasm for writing, enjoys reading non-medical literature as a pastime, owns a business or has a side hustle, is interested in governance, enjoys outreach activities and giving back to the wider community, and recalls that they are a medical student. Attempting to balance everything is a recipe for disaster.

When the mind accepts that anything must be a lag, life gets better. The hack is as follows: Recognize that some things are going to suffer at various moments. During the academic period, a medical pupil can devote one stretch to schoolwork, politics, and writing while leaving the rest to relax. When it comes to non-academic activities, the other elements take the attention. No, it's not a flawless plan, but it's real. Furthermore, such an individual is now acutely aware that there is no equilibrium. The simplest way to attain balance is to focus solely on one goal.
