Progress Not Perfect

Progress is not perfection. It's important that we don't become attached to the word "perfection" and therefore avoid all concepts and ideas that involve it. The real test of a person's progress is how much they accept and give the benefit of their personal growth to themselves and others. When they accept what they have done with a clear mind, and not a guilty mind attached to the concept of perfection, then they are on the road to success.

When something is done right and there is nothing wrong with it, that's perfection. When something is done right and there is something wrong with it, that's called imperfection. We are all capable of changing things in our lives for the better. What we decide to do with that which we have is what defines us.

If you're trying to be perfect, you won't get anywhere. You'll always end up looking back at what you did and saying that you wished you would have done it differently. What will get you somewhere is when you allow yourself to not worry about whether or not you did it perfectly. Perfection is not the answer.

In order to grow, you must learn to allow imperfection and mistakes to be a part of the learning process. We learn by making mistakes. No one can write the book on you. Everyone makes them. For that reason alone, no one can claim to know you better than you.

You are unique, and your uniqueness is reflected in your character. Nobody knows you better than you do. By embracing and loving imperfection, you will allow yourself to grow, and in turn, to allow others to do the same. You are what you make of yourself.

The majority of us go through much more substantial problems and issues that other people simply slip past us. These problems are much more serious, because they impact us on such a deep and personal level. How we deal with them, and more importantly how we learn from them, defines who we are.

It is important to remember that while each of us has our own imperfections, they are not the ones defining us. We are each a work in progress. Our uniqueness is something we all share. We each have our own personality and are not one "type" of person.

Remember, no matter how much you change or struggle with something, you are a work in progress. You can try again, and again until you find the right way, but it will take time. We all have unfinished business. This is okay.

We have all had people in our life that affected us in a negative way. While these individuals may not have been good for us, they are a part of our life. The one issue is that they have marked us as somebody that cannot be changed. While this is not true, this does not define us, as each of us are complex individuals.

Each of us is unique. There is not another Joe nor Mary like us. There is not another Peter or Paul like us. Each of us is a unique individual, and each of us can only be changed by the events and situations that have marked us. If we accept this and learn to forgive those who have marked us, we will become whole and complete.

Let us not allow imperfection to tear us down. Let us instead come to the realization that all things are blessings, even our imperfections. We have been given an opportunity to create, to explore, to grow and to live.

It is not good to focus on what you do not like about yourself. This only leads to feelings of depression and unhappiness. Instead, focus on all the wonderful things about yourself. You are amazing. You are special. You are special in more ways than one.

Let us not allow any obstacles to get in our way of moving toward our goal. While there are things we need to work on, like perfecting one skill, there are many others that we could also learn from. Who knows? Maybe next week we have a new hobby. Maybe we can take up a new sport. One thing is for sure, we can make all the Progress not Perfect that we want to make.
