A look into facing your fears with skydiving.

in life •  last year

Skydiving is one of the greatest joys and thrills we have in life. With a little preparation, skydiving is a safe way to experience that thrill. But jumping out of a perfectly good airplane without knowing what’s going on is scary. To help you overcome your fears, I’m going to tell you everything I knew about flying before I went skydiving and share the things I learned after I jumped from 17,000 feet.

How to Get Started

The first thing you need to do is schedule a flight and make sure you get insurance. Don’t forget to check the weather in the area where you plan to jump. If it’s too windy, cold, or stormy, it might be a bad day for skydiving. Also, you should consider getting some training before your first jump so you feel comfortable if something goes wrong.

What You Need to Know

One important thing to keep in mind before jumping is that skydiving requires a minimum weight of 110 pounds. So, if you weigh less than 110 pounds, you shouldn’t even think about skydiving. Another thing to know is that you must use an approved parachute and a certified pilot. It isn’t safe to skydive without them. There are also strict laws against flying in certain areas. If you plan to skydive in some of the places where there are strict rules about flying, make sure you talk to your local law enforcement before making plans.

Steps to Prepare

Once you have everything in place, the next step is getting the right gear for the right jump. This includes the appropriate clothing, helmet, goggles, and a parachute. Your clothes can get dirty, so don’t wear anything you’ll have to take off before landing. It’s always a good idea to put the most expensive items on the bottom. That way, you don’t get too hot when you’re falling. For me, the main priority was to make sure my helmet fit comfortably. Also, you should make sure that your goggles fit properly and cover your eyes.

Tips to Consider

After all that hard work, there’s only one thing left to do. You might be excited, but you should try to stay calm. If you get anxious, you’ll probably freeze up and your heart rate will skyrocket. So, remember to stay relaxed, breathe slowly, and follow the instructions of the people around you.

As you can see, there are plenty of things to consider before jumping out of an airplane.
