After learning enough about Bitcoin and how it can be so public, I decided to save my assets in Monero !
I've learned so much about what's going on in the world, especially in crypto. I know how important it is to hold crypto, to save our keys, and to care as much as we can about privacy. It's the last thing we still can completely protect. That's why I'm moving most of my assets to Monero. And I'll spend that soon anyway, when I'll have to move to another country. Because crypto is all that I have for now. It's maybe crazy to not have any fiat left, but this is how I live. I just use a portion of crypto from time to time, to pay my bills and to survive. I'll have to use it all as well when I'll leave Russia to another country for a better life.
So, yesterday I was looking for a decentralized exchange to use to convert bitcoin I have to Monero. I learned about a few of them, but didn't like how they work. I even tried changelly.com, but depending on what I watched in a video, they show a higher price, and then they send with the lower one. But Blocktrades.us send exactly the amount they showed in the begging, and with the same price that the other one show, but not send. So, in this case @blocktrades is of course better. I'm still learning about other exchanges, like bisq.network, but that's mostly a p2p website, and it's a bit hard to use it. If you need the trade faster, of course I would advise blocktrades. Because even p2p may take some time.
But I would like to warn you, if you want to use monero for the first time. In case you'll install GUI Wallet, it may take a long time to synchronize, and you'll need about 100 GB free space on your hard disk to synchronize it all. And you will not see your balance unless it's already synchronized and that may take days if your connection is slow.
So, privacy seems to need some expenses, and time, but I think that's really worth it.

My understanding from years ago was Blocktrades moved to requiring KYC which means ones move into Monero isn't private as a record of your identity with the amount purchased is there for the governments to know when they submit the transaction records.
I don't know, they never asked for KYC. I used a simple email confirmation.
They have only this :
But they never asked to fill it to use their service. I used their service many times without giving any name or details about myself except the email.
I used to mine monero. I never considered buying it.
By the way there is a new user on blurt I think you might want to meet @alarconr22.arte
I learned a bit about mining monero. It's not seems to be profitable. They kind of wrote that 1 monero can be minded in about 170 days. I think that's not that much.
Followed @alarconr22.arte, I'll talk to him. I wish I will find what I'm looking for. Already a few people are talking to me from there, what give me more confidence to travel. I just need to know some details and I will be ready to go.
I mined Monero a long time ago and quit because it was only worth five dollars after a week so it must be even more difficult now.
Definitely. I pray for you, but it's not good to move without any real set up. It looks like Mexico will have a good future.
Monero is interesting 💯
But
Blocktrades saves everything ( all transactions) and will be reporting them to the taxman. Just a side note 📝
I understand about bitcoin, but how that could be done with monero if it's private ?
