I am starting in the following order.

  1. Hiragana
  2. Katakana
  3. Chinese characters (i'm here)
  4. Transcription and memorization (start)

I have to speak English and there is a lot to do.

    You're on the right track. Also study the grammar points in Minna no Nihonggo. There are a lot of youtube tutorials. Lessons 1-25 covers JLPT N5 level. I will write about my Nihongo studies soon.
