Revenant (2023 Kdrama): A horror show with no gory scene or horrifying visual.

I'm not the biggest fan of horror shows and shows that are basically about a series of eerie events unfolding in an attempt to hunt down a Ghost or some evil spirit. However, I remember watching a 2018 Kdrama, The Guest, which I thoroughly enjoyed back in the day.

This time around, SBS Network graced us with a Kdrama of a somewhat similar genre. Upon further research, I got to know that the screenwriter for the show is Kim Eun-Hee, the writer known for other reputable projects like Signal, Kingdom, and Jirisan, etc.

Today's review is all about her most recent project...

Drama: Revenant

Genre: Thriller, Mystery, Horror, Supernatural

Network: SBS

Episodes: 12

Release Date: June 23 - July 29, 2023

As you can see, this is a very fresh show. The show presents a cool horror story with intriguing episodes. The suicidal theme in the story raises the bar of horror and makes it even more mature.

I wouldn't count this as a show for faint-hearted people. Although, the animosity in the show and its eeriness were not pushed to an extreme. They did a good job of making it fairly decent despite the darkness of the theme. Lovers of horror shows, especially those that enjoy Kdrama productions, will surely feast on this.

This shows brings us to the world of a lady who got possessed by a very diabolical demon after getting in possession of an item that was passed on to her by her late father. While being possessed by the demon, she crossed paths with a Korean folklore lecturer who has a special ability to see demons in their true form.

They both started working together with a Police Lieutenant who's sceptical about the existence of ghosts/demons to solve mysterious cases involving supernatural beings.

Kim Tae-Ri has done so much for herself in the Kdrama industry. She's one of the characters that carries an average show and turns the show into an exceptional show with her brilliant performance. The lady is amazing and I mean it when I say that she outdid herself with her acting in this particular Kdrama.

Wow! You need to see her display of dual personality in this show. She has this creepy way of smiling whenever she's taken over by the demon possessing her body. Lol. She feels like a completely different person. That acting is on point. The duality she portrayed with her facial expression (alone) is unreal.

The intensity of the show is remarkable.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop Or Comma.
